AD | We got invited to @dunstonhallbistro and somehow ended up having one of the best afternoons we’ve had in a while. 😭

@dunstonhallestate in Chesterfield is not what you expect. It’s a 16th century estate sitting on the edge of the Peak District — and it does a lot.

New bistro ✅ Food hall ✅ Garden centre ✅ Wedding venue ✅ Big open greenery to just… wander around in ✅

The Bistro 🍽️
We started with:
🥣 Maple roasted vegetable soup
🍄 Creamy garlic mushrooms on toasted sourdough with pea shoots

Then mains:
🥧 Chicken & tarragon pie
🐟 Teriyaki glazed salmon in Thai green broth with egg noodles and toasted sesame seeds

Every single thing landed. Not one miss. The fish was so fresh it almost felt suspicious. In the best way.

The Food Hall 🌍 @dunstonhallfoodhall
Premium, locally sourced fresh produce — vegetables, fruit, meat, homemade pies, cheese, a solid selection of drinks, plus ingredients for your Italian, Mediterranean, Indian, Korean, Chinese, and Spanish cooking. And more. It genuinely just kept going.

It’s the kind of food hall you walk into for 10 minutes and come out 45 minutes later carrying things you had absolutely no intention of buying.

We know. Because we left with way more than planned and somehow spent under £50.

No regrets. There are never any regrets.

The Garden Centre & Grounds 🌿
This bit caught us off guard honestly. It’s a proper full garden centre — plants, shrubs, seasonal flowers, garden tools, gifts, the lot. Really well stocked and genuinely lovely to browse around.

And then you step outside into the grounds and it’s just… open space. Fresh air. Peak District views. The kind of place that slows you down without even trying. We stayed longer than planned and we’re not sorry about it.

⏰ Top Tip — go early.
The food hall produce is freshest first thing and the popular lines do sell out. Early bird gets the good stuff. You’ve been warned.

🙌🏻Anyone else grew up rewinding cassette tapes with a pencil in the 90’s? 📼

Walked into Front Room Sheffield and instantly got hit with that nostalgia.
The walls are lined with cassette tapes and vinyl records, giving the whole place that cosy living-room-hangout vibe. 🎧

And honestly… the sandwiches are just as good as the aesthetic.

The cafe only opened last week and somehow I kept finding excuses to go back and try another one.

Also right opposite a nursery, which makes it the perfect post drop-off coffee and cake recovery stop for parents ☕🍰

What I tried across a few visits:

🥪 Pastrami, emmental, rocket, mustard & pickles
🧀 Caramelised onion, brie, rocket & honey
🧀 Grilled cheese with ham, mustard & cheddar
🏆 Mortadella, salami, mozzarella, pesto & rocket (still my favourite)

They’ve also got an event space at the back for small gatherings, creative events or even intimate weddings.

If you’re looking for a new Sheffield café, somewhere cosy for coffee, or a solid lunch sandwich spot in the city centre — this one’s worth checking out.

Sheffield Wing Fest 2026: 60,000 wings, nine traders and absolutely no chance of choosing a favourite 🍗🔥

Here’s what we tried:

🍊 @hello_oriental_mcr — Sichuan Orange Buffalo + Sticky Garlic & Chilli
🌶️ @mollis.fried.chicken — The Buff Ting with gochujang and pineapple + the Thai-inspired Too Wild to Thai Down
🔥 @hillbillys_streetkitchen — Bourbon Old Fashioned BBQ + Redneck Buffalo
🇰🇷 @kikisfriedchicken — Plum Soju Korean BBQ + OG Roasted Green Chilli
🍯 @chicken_ting — White Chocolate Raspberry 🍵 + Cowboy Butter Buffalo
🤠 @jsfriedchicken — Pecan Pie ❤️ + the smoky-sweet Smokehouse Cowboy

Some flavours sounded completely wild, but somehow they worked. We tried so many amazing wings and still couldn’t agree on a winner 😭

Funny how you can leave Malaysia, but Malaysia never really leaves you. 🇲🇾❤️

It’s in the food I crave, the flavours I try to recreate, the way “have you eaten?” is basically a love language, and the little things I didn’t realise I’d miss until I lived far away from them.

Being away from home somehow makes you appreciate it differently 🫠

The chaos. The heat. The mamak sessions. The kopitiam mornings. The food we will happily drive 40 minutes for because “this one better”. 😂

The mix of cultures, languages and flavours that somehow just feels… Malaysian.

And especially today, I’m reminded how lucky I am to have a place that, no matter how far away I am, will always feel like home.

Selamat Hari Merdeka, Malaysia. 🇲🇾

Now they’ve opened in Crookes and honestly… regular pittas might be ruined for us.

I fear Sheffield brunch culture may actually be peaking here 😭☕️

If you’re looking for one of the best breakfast & brunch spots in Sheffield City Centre… this is IT.
We’ve been back so many times now because every visit genuinely slaps. No bad orders. No regrets.
Just emotional support delivered on ceramic plates.

What we ordered 🍳
🥓 Big Kiwi
🦀 Chilli Crab Scramble
☕️ 2 Lattes

The Big Kiwi is basically brunch overachieving: Yorkshire pork sausage, thick belly bacon, rosemary hash brown, house beans, mushrooms, corn ribs & perfectly golden St Ewe eggs on toasted ciabatta 🤌

But the Chilli Crab Scramble???
Absolutely ridiculous in the best way. Tom yum butter, blue swimmer crab, fluffy scrambled eggs, turmeric & ginger crema, cashew sambal… whoever made this deserves unlimited paid leave.

And yes… the coffee passed the test too ☕️
No burnt bean sadness here.

Also can we PLEASE talk about the eggs for a second 😭
They use 🥚 St Ewe eggs and if you know… you KNOW. Those deep golden yolks are basically liquid gold.

We tried their latest drop… and honestly, it’s giving dessert plot twist energy:
🌽 Snow Cob drizzled with caramel sauce – looks like corn, tastes like heaven. Sweet, creamy, and low-key addictive.
