The kind of Barcelona afternoon that starts with a walk and somehow turns into dinner.

The Barri GoĢ€tic is all narrow streets, centuries-old stone façades, hidden squares and traces of Barcelona’s Roman and medieval past. Walk a few streets towards El Raval and the atmosphere shifts, with contemporary art, independent shops, busy bars and another eclectic side of the city.

They’re easy to explore together, and this is one part of Barcelona where I’d leave plenty of time simply to walk.

A few addresses worth saving:
šŸ“ Capet for an intimate dinner in the GoĢ€tic
šŸ· Bar Cañete for tapas and a lively atmosphere
🄐 La Colmena for a xuixo, the sugar-coated Catalan pastry traditionally filled with cream
šŸ… La Boqueria for a wander through the market, preferably earlier in the day
šŸŽØ MACBA for contemporary art in the heart of El Raval
šŸ› Hotel Neri for a beautiful stay among the historic streets of the GoĢ€tic
šŸ› Wittmore Hotel for something discreet and intimate, also in the GoĢ€tic

Barcelona gets better when you stop following the map.

A walk through El Born, the Gothic Quarter or El Raval and it won’t take long before something makes you change direction. A tiny street you hadn’t noticed, an old shopfront, a beautiful façade, a café that looks worth stopping at.

Some of my favourite moments from this trip happened exactly like that, somewhere between the places we actually meant to visit.

So leave a little room in your Barcelona itinerary for getting distracted. You’ll probably be glad you did.

A little look back at end of summer in the Loire Valley. 🌻

A few days in the French countryside, where the fields had already turned golden, the sunflowers were having their last moment and afternoons were best spent with a book, something good to eat and nowhere particularly urgent to be.

There’s something I love about the countryside at this time of year. The colours, the quiet villages, the long afternoons outside and the feeling that very little needs to be planned.

A few scenes from summer before we fully move into autumn. šŸ‚

The last days of summer in Barcelona.

Still warm enough for long walks through the city, tables spilling onto the streets and tapas that somehow turn into dinner.

This time I also made a stop at the Museu TaĢ€pies, where two exhibitions are entering their final days: Antoni TaĢ€pies: The Perpetual Movement of the Wall and AĢ€ngel Jové: De intactu. Both close this Sunday, September 27, so if you’re in Barcelona this weekend, it’s a good moment to catch them.

A little art, a lot of walking, late lunches and those last warm evenings before autumn properly arrives.

Barcelona is particularly easy to love at this time of year.

What if island life looked like this? 🌿

Just a 10-minute ferry ride from the Brittany coast, IĢ‚le de Bréhat is a little world of its own.

No cars, just stone cottages surrounded by flowers, secluded beaches, turquoise waters and pink granite along the coast.

A place where life moves a little slower.

Save this little island escape for your next trip to France.

Red might just be Paris’ unofficial colour. ā¤ļø

Once you start noticing it, it’s everywhere. On café awnings, old shopfronts, bistro chairs, paĢ‚tisserie windows and little corners across the city.

A small detail, but somehow very Paris.

What colour do you associate with Paris?

Burgundy is one of those regions that makes you want to take the long way around. šŸ‡

We spent our days driving through the CoĢ‚te-d’Or, stopping in small wine villages, walking between vineyards and visiting domaines where you begin to understand just how much history sits behind every bottle.

There were tastings and centuries-old cellars, of course, but also cobbled streets, beautiful old houses, long lunches and roads cutting straight through the vines.

And that was probably my favourite part of Burgundy. You don’t need to rush from one famous domaine to the next. Some of the best moments happen in between.

There’s a reason this stretch of Brittany has its own name.

The Côte de Granit Rose runs along the northern coast of Brittany, where enormous granite formations in shades of pink and copper meet clear blue water, small coves and coastal villages.

One of the best ways to experience it is on foot. Around Ploumanac’h, the GR34 coastal path winds between the rocks and the sea, with a completely different view around almost every corner. The colour of the granite changes with the light too, becoming warmer and noticeably pinker towards the end of the day.

It was easily one of the highlights of our road trip through Brittany, and somewhere I’d make time for rather than simply drive through.

If you’re a wine lover, Burgundy’s CoĢ‚te-d’Or is one of those places you have to experience at least once in your life. šŸ‡

We came to explore the region behind some of the world’s most celebrated wines, but quickly realised there’s so much more to the experience than simply moving from one tasting to the next.

We followed the Route des Grands Crus through the CoĢ‚te de Nuits and CoĢ‚te de Beaune, stopping in tiny wine villages, walking between some of the world’s most famous vineyards, visiting domaines and cellars, and spending time in Beaune along the way.

And the more you understand about Burgundy, its Climats, terroirs and why two vineyards only metres apart can produce completely different wines, the more fascinating the landscape becomes.

This carousel is a little edit of what I’d recommend if you’re planning your own trip, from villages and wineries to places to eat and stay.

For the complete CoĢ‚te-d’Or Travel Note, with many more recommendations, practical tips and everything we learned along the way, head to the full guide on the website, link in bio.

If you like your coastlines a little wild, put Plougrescant on your Brittany itinerary.

Around Plougrescant, the landscape becomes more rugged, with huge granite formations, little coves, rocky headlands and stretches of coastline much less polished than the better-known spots nearby.

The stone houses are part of the charm too, scattered between the coast and countryside and giving the area that unmistakably Breton feel.

It’s a great stretch to explore by car, with short walks, viewpoints and small harbours appearing one after another along the way.

One of the most beautiful coastal walks in Brittany.

The trail towards Plage de l’IĢ‚le Vierge, on the Crozon Peninsula, takes you along the coast through pine trees and rocky paths, with views over the cliffs and incredibly clear blue-green water below.

The beach itself is tucked between high cliffs and has become one of the most recognisable landscapes in Crozon. Today, access down to Plage de l’IĢ‚le Vierge is prohibited to protect the fragile site, but you can still discover this part of the peninsula from the coastal trail and admire the scenery from above.

And the walk is very much part of the experience. The landscape keeps changing along the way, with small coves, rocky headlands and viewpoints opening onto the sea.

Good to know: wear proper shoes, as some sections of the trail are rocky and uneven, and allow plenty of time for stops along the way.
