Pangolakha Wildlife Sanctuary is famous for its enigmatic wildlife like Himalayan Monal, Satyr Tragopan, Himalayan Musk Deer etc. But Pangolakha is also home to more than 30 species of Rhododendron and many other plant species. Asiatic Wild Ass is one such mammalian species which are now restricted to only the Kutch area of Gujarat. Once their population declined quite a lot, but now after constant conservation efforts healthy populations thrive in that area.

Exactly a month later my mind is still wandering through the valleys of Kashmir. 🏔️✨

It honestly feels like a dream I haven’t fully woken up from. No right amount of words can do justice to how beautiful this place is, but what truly made it unforgettable was the people. Unknown faces, people I’ll probably never cross paths with again, treated me with the kind of warmth and kindness you rarely find.

Shoutout to the horse owners, the cab drivers, and every local who made a stranger feel so safe and incredibly welcome. Kashmir, you have my whole heart truly ❤❤

Musk Deer Expedition 2026

I saw and photographed this elusive Himalayan beauty for the first time in 2018, and afterwards I began my quest of understanding the habit and habitat of the Himalayan Musk Deer.

Since last year I have been conducting tours for Musk Deer Photography in Pangolakha Wildlife Sanctuary. This year's May expedition was a grand success. I will be conducting another tour in November, 2026.

From the rain‑soaked ridges of the Himalayas, a male Himalayan Monal emerges in radiant splendor, his iridescent plumage shimmering with hues of sapphire, emerald, and copper. Standing proudly upon moss‑covered rocks, his crest catches the faint light breaking through the mist. After long hours of waiting in rain and cloud, this dazzling vision felt like pure fortune — a fleeting glimpse of wilderness majesty and the living jewel of the high Himalayas.

Then, with sudden grace, he lifts into the air, wings fully outstretched over the thin green bamboo‑clad hillside. Each beat flashes electrifying colors across the misty slopes, a living rainbow in motion — a flight that embodies the untamed spirit of the mountains.
