I’ve thought about this day for almost four years now. I imagined it would be so much different, going through all of the motions of the last three years and all the possible places I could have been, and people I could have been around when this record finally came out. I never thought it would be a quiet day like any other, but I am more than content with that. I could do my usual thing and write a novel to collect all of my feelings and thoughts during the process of recording drums back in March of 2023, to releasing this record today in 2026 - but I think that story will unfold naturally over time.

I do want to talk a little bit about this song, which helped me navigate my own feelings during a time where I felt a lack of love in my life and didn’t know how to process it. This guy pictured here inspired every part I contributed to this song. I haven’t seen him since 2023, and I heard recently he passed about a year ago, but the few years we got to spend together felt like a lifetime of memories and experiences that of course I wouldn’t trade for anything. I mean look at this dude? All he wanted to do was hang out and snuggle.

Thank you immensely to everyone who had a hand in this record. It helped me process so much of what was going on in my life at the time, and is proof that change is real and inevitable whether you want it or not.

Now @crumbypockets and I are gonna get high and go laugh at the anthony bourdain biopic by @warforgedband

Max from Warforged discusses the band's creative process. Their first single, 'A Bustle in the Hedgerow,' came to life with everyone in the room, leading to an unexpected 8-minute epic. Inspiration can strike in amazing ways.

“The Grove | Almanac” by Warforged drops August 14th. Watch the full podcast with Max Damske on Shred Sessions. (Link in bio)
