If you know me, you’ll know that I like food. Quite a lot!

I’m very fortunate to work in an industry where, traditionally, we’ve always been looked after when it comes to food while we’re at work. I certainly don’t take that for granted.

Good food does what good food always does. It grounds us. We stop for a moment. We sit down on a dining bus, the tailgate of a Luton van, or lean against a rock on a sodden mountain side, and we reset. Gone is the ebb and flow of set, of hubbub and silence. Our temporary little family sits down together, and eats. We are very lucky, especially when the food is this good!

With that in mind, I just wanted to write a quick post of appreciation for the amazing work the caterers, Scene Cuisine, did recently while looking after us on Lluest.

Here are some pictures I snapped on my phone during normal working days/nights - as if I were in some swanky café, not in a fallow car park somewhere near Pontypool!

Keeping a large crew happy and well-fed, often in the middle of nowhere, takes some doing. And they delivered time and time again.

So, a real doff of the cap to the whole team who looked after us, and a big thank you to Severn Screen for keeping us so well sustained.

I'd also like to take the opportunity to give big respect to Tilly and Rachel from the Sustainability team. They put so much work into reducing packaging waste, and improving waste management throughout the production. Diolch/Thank You to you all. Wx by @warrenorchard

What a joy it was to work on this film “Mr Burton”, which is now available to watch on @bbciplayer.

It’s strange to think of leaving a small Welsh village or town as I write this, as I am sat in the very same Boston @tridentbooks cafe I used to frequent 35 years before I worked on this film.
The strange part is the connection between the two. My time here in the late 80s was as a result of an organisation called the United Nations Youth Service, which used to have it’s base in of all places, the Temple Of Peace in Cardiff. The very same place where
we shot a number of scenes from the film.

It was a great pleasure to once again work with @welshmanevans and @edtalfan to bring this fascinating story to the screen. What a bunch of people were assembled to bring it to fruition, too many to name individually, but I must mention @stuartdop and his camera team, and Dan Mumford and his merry band of AD’s for making my time so rewarding. Also Josh & Tom for the wonderful story, and of course Hannah & Anna and all of team @severnscreen. A doff of the cap also to @johnhardymusic for the wonderful score.

As for the cast, what can I say except Thank You all.

I hope you watch and enjoy the story of the young lad from the valleys who followed a different path. Paving the way for many more to dream of following.

Earlier this year I spent a while working in “Penwyllt”.
The cast and and crew with whom I worked were creative
and generous to a fault, and we were looked after so well.
It really was a wonderful time. I’ve missed it.
I hope one day I can visit again. However tonight I am looking
forward to journeying to the world that Ed, Ffion and the team
@fictionfactory_films have created.
