Congratulations. You've been invited to ride along with Warwick Police. Before we even leave the parking lot, we have a pretty good idea how this is going to go.

Which passenger are you?

B. Touching buttons you were specifically told not to touch.

C. Already asking when we're stopping for food.

D. Quietly wondering how to get out of this commitment.

Drop your answer below. For the record, B is why we can't have nice things.

Stay Safe, Warwick.

Our next Senior Walk is October 27 at 9 a.m. at Warwick Mall !

Join our officers for a morning of walking, conversation, and good company. A few laps around the mall should give everyone plenty of time to tell us which roads need more traffic enforcement. We recommend bringing a list.

Lace up your sneakers and come walk with us!

Stay Safe, Warwick.

The Warwick Police Department extends our deepest condolences to the families and friends of those killed in yesterday’s school shooting in Bend, Oregon. Our thoughts are with those injured, the students and staff, and the first responders facing the lasting impact of this tragedy.
We know news like this can leave parents, students, and school staff feeling concerned, even far from where it happened. Here in Warwick, our officers work closely with our school community every day, and the safety and well-being of our students and staff remain a shared priority.
Please encourage your children to speak with a trusted adult, school staff member, or officer if something concerns them. We are here to listen and help.

Stay Safe, Warwick.

From the days when police cruisers were roughly the size of small boats to today's SUVs, our fleet has certainly come a long way.

We're missing a few generations in between, but here's a look at how Warwick Police cruisers have evolved over the years.

The cars have changed, the technology has improved, and thankfully, so has the air conditioning.

A big thank you to our Fleet Manager and the entire garage crew for keeping these vehicles running and our officers on the road. Some of these cruisers have definitely tested their patience over the years.

Stay Safe, Warwick.

FEDERAL JURY RETURNS GUILTY VERDICT IN CHILD SEX TRAFFICKING CASE

A federal jury has found Justin Duffer, 36, of North Kingstown, guilty of attempted sex trafficking of a child following a multi-day trial in U.S. District Court.

The investigation was primarily conducted by a Warwick Police Detective assigned to Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), working in collaboration with federal and state law enforcement partners.

During the investigation, Duffer communicated with an undercover officer and agreed to pay for a sexual act involving someone he believed to be under the age of 14. He traveled to a meeting location, paid $120 to an undercover officer, and was subsequently arrested.

Duffer faces a mandatory minimum sentence of 15 years in federal prison and a maximum of life imprisonment. Sentencing is scheduled for January 6, 2027.

We are proud of the work of our detective and our continued partnership with HSI and the Rhode Island State Police ICAC Task Force. Cases like this demonstrate the importance of collaboration and the critical work being done to protect children from sexual exploitation.

Stay Safe, Warwick.

ARRESTED: MICK JAGGER.
Yes, that Mick Jagger.

On July 18, 1972, Mick Jagger and Keith Richards added an unscheduled stop to the Rolling Stones’ U.S. tour: the Warwick Police Department.

After fog diverted their flight to T.F. Green Airport, an altercation involving a photographer led to their arrests. Thousands of fans waited at Boston Garden while the pair dealt with a different kind of booking. No tickets required. Fingerprints, however, were part of the package.

Boston Mayor Kevin White helped arrange their release on bail, and the show eventually went on after midnight. Apparently, you can’t always get what you want but sometimes you can get a court date and still make the concert.
Jagger reportedly told the crowd, “This place is better than Warwick.”

Tough review. We provided a private room, personal security and a complimentary photo. Still couldn’t get no satisfaction.

Stay Safe, Warwick.

Happy 251st Birthday to the @usnavy

Since October 13, 1775, the U.S. Navy has proudly defended our nation at home and abroad.

Today, we recognize the generations of sailors who have served, those currently serving, and the Navy veterans who continue their commitment to public service.

Fair winds and following seas!

Stay Safe, Warwick.

After our rotary video, quite a few of you requested a lesson on zipper merging. Apparently, our cardboard cruiser has been approved for continuing education.

When traffic is backed up where two lanes become one, whether it’s a construction closure or a regular lane reduction, here’s how zipper merging works:

- Use both lanes up to the designated merge point.
- Signal, check your blind spot, and leave room.
- Take turns entering the open lane: one vehicle from one lane, then one from the other.
- Keep your speed steady and follow posted signs and directions.

The driver using the closing lane up to the merge point is following the zipper-merge method. Let them take their turn. Blocking both lanes or closing the gap defeats the whole process.

Using both lanes keeps the backup shorter. Taking turns helps traffic move smoothly. Ideally, everybody gets through with less frustration. We realize we’re asking Rhode Islanders to cooperate in traffic, but we remain cautiously optimistic.

We live in Rhode Island. A 20-minute drive already requires a coffee stop and an explanation of why we’re going “all the way over there.” Let’s not make it longer.

Stay Safe, Warwick.

Warwick Police officers made 16 arrests over the long weekend. Six were for DUI.

We advertised the uncomfortable beds and underwhelming room service. Apparently, the reviews weren’t enough.

If drinking is part of your plans, a sober ride needs to be part of them, too.

Stay Safe, Warwick.
