Hello all! Hope you are having a wonderful summer and enjoying the sunshine☀️ See if you can spot what book on this shelf at @wildernesshq festival is written by one of our very own staff members and seminar tutors here at WWP! Keep swiping for further clues🔎 If you can’t spot it, it’s Nell Stevens’ new novel, Briefly, A Delicious Life!” Heady with the delicious scent of the Mediterranean, richly witty, and utterly compulsive, Briefly, A Delicious Life is a story about convention and breaking convention, about love – yearning, secret, forbidden, unrequited – and about men and women and the cruelty they mete out to one another. We were so excited to see Nell’s book stocked at this festival in Oxford and can’t wait to see all the other places that her book features at. Huge well done to Nell for her incredible book!📚 by @warwickwritingprogramme

Hello All! This week, we talked to first year student Georgia Pallet about her first term starting at Warwick University. This is what she had to say: "Personally, I have had a great start to university, being very lucky to have a great group of flatmates who I get along with. The work load was a jump from A Levels, especially after taking a year out, but I slowly got used to this and found a lot of methods to keep on top of things! So far, my favourite literature text has been Sir Gawain and the Green Knight but I particularly enjoyed studying a series of creative essays in Modes of Writing. Looking forward, I'm excited to having more creative opportunities and learning how to craft different forms of writing - most specifically screenwriting which I'm planning to take in Year Two!" What have your favourite texts been? Let us know in the comments below! #WWP #WarwickWritingProgramme #WarwickUni #StudentLife #Warwick #WarwickUniversity Picture: "Sir Gawain" by Howard Pyle, 1903 by @warwickwritingprogramme
Hello All! First of all, we hope that you have all enjoyed the autumn term, a happy and joyous return to face-to-face teaching! The feedback from students and staff has been overwhelmingly positive for us to share our work in person to each other. We salute you all for prospering in these difficult circumstances! As we transition to the next term of writing and adventure, with a NEW building and home on the horizon, we thought we would reflect on all the amazing stories that we've shared in Millburn House. One of these stories was 'Spy Dog', pictured here with the Writing MA Cohort of 2015-2016! Another story includes the 'Deconstructed-sofa-renga' from 2015. So many of our stories, poems and memories have been loved in this room, and so many more will be created in our new Faculty of Arts Building 🖋 Pictured on our second slide is our final day of teaching poetry in the Writer's Room. The whiteboard now has pantoums created by our 'Practice of Poetry' students on it and the building itself has now become its own form of poetry - immortalised in our writing history. What memories do you have in this room? Let us know in the comments! On Wednesday evening, all departments within the school of SCAPVC held the official opening for the new 'Faculty of Arts' building! The evening began with the Warwick Brass Society playing carols at Millburn House with speeches by David Coates and, head of SCAPVC, Stuart Hampton-Reeves. This was shortly followed by a procession down to the new building with staff and students from across the school. Upon arriving at the new building, refreshments were kindly provided by the Warwick Catering services. Then, students from the Warwick Writing Programme spoke some amazing poetry to the crowd. Each of these speakers were greeted to a great reception and a loud round of applause. To conclude the evening, Musical Theatre Warwick performed carols in the festive air! The WWP would like to thank all students who attended this event 🌟 Pictured (left to right): Ian Sansom (Head of the WWP), Elizabeth Ryder, Samuel Budd, Nina Globerson #WWP #WarwickWritingProgramme #WarwickUniversity #SCAPVC #Poetry #FacultyofArts by @warwickwritingprogramme
Hello Everyone! In the run up to Christmas, after our amazing event yesterday with @rolfatwarwick , we thought it was about time to give a shoutout to some of our amazing SSLC students. These four talented individuals have been taking in feedback from students across the department over the term and feeding them back to our director - Prof. Ian Sansom. Meet them below! Photo One - Rishika "Hi my name is Rishika and I’m an international student from India. I tend to dabble in poetry and prose but definitely wanna explore other areas. I’m passionate about feminism, cakes and The Office. My favourite book of all time is probably The Catcher in the Rye. Looking forward to meet everyone!" Photo Two - Joseph "I'm Joseph, I'm from London and I most enjoy reading and writing poetry (but only in the middle of the night). I also love music of all kinds and I'm really into philosophy and political theory. Looking forward to meeting everyone I haven't already this year!" Photo Three - Victoria "Hi everyone, I'm Victoria! My favourite forms to write in are the short story, narrative essay and flash fiction. I really like to zoom into the human psyche and the effects that our emotions have upon our perspectives of the world." Photo Four - Oreofe "Hi, I'm OreOfe. I'm a big fan of uncanny things and love mixing prose with visual art." #WWP #WarwickWritingProgramme #WarwickUniversity #SSLC #StudentVoice #StudentLife by @warwickwritingprogramme

They described the project as "an exciting opportunity to showcase examples of extraordinary worlds from our writing community". If you would like to participate in their next issue, keep your eyes peeled for their next submission window! All writers published with Otherverse will be paid a flat fee.
