"تتجه النظرة دائماً نحو السماء."

معرض "نباتات الزمالك الليلية" بيستخدم النباتات والأشجار كطريقة جديدة لرؤية الزمالك وطبقاتها الإجتماعية والثقافية، النباتات هنا مش بتكون مجرد عنصر جمالي في المشهد، لكنها بتتحول لأثر حي بيكشف عن قصص المكان وتحولاته، والعلاقة المستمرة بين الطبيعة والمدينة، المساحات الخاصة والعامة، والحاضر والمستقبل.

ياكوبو ڤالنتيني هو فنان بصري وباحث، بيستكشف في أعماله فكرة المكان مش بس كموقع جغرافي، لكن كمساحة بتتشابك فيها الذاكرة والثقافة والخيال مع بعض. ومن خلال التصوير الفوتوغرافي والتركيب الفني، بيحاول يفهم إزاي بنشوف الأماكن من حوالينا، وإزاي بنفهمها ونتعامل معاها، وإزاي بتتغير مع الوقت. بيعتمد في شغله على البحث في التاريخ والأرشيف والأدب والعمارة، إلى جانب الملاحظة المباشرة للأماكن المختلفة، عشان يفتح طرق جديدة للتفكير في المكان وقراءته.

المعرض بدعم من: المعاهد الوطنية للثقافة التابعة للاتحاد الأوروبي (EUNIC) والمعهد الثقافي الإيطالي بالقاهرة، وبالتعاون مع طلاب أكاديمية الفنون بالقاهرة.

“The gaze is always directed towards the sky.“

On Zamalek’s Nocturnal Vegetation explores vegetation as a lens through which to read Zamalek’s urban and cultural layers. Plants, trees, and gardens become traces of a landscape shaped by human intervention, history, and the city’s ongoing transformation, revealing connections between nature and culture, public and private space, memory and the present.

Jacopo Valentini is a visual artist and researcher whose work explores landscape beyond its representation as a place, approaching it instead as a network of relationships between space, memory, culture, and imagination.

Through photography and installation, he creates topographies that question how territories are perceived, interpreted, and transformed. Drawing on historical sources, archives, literature, architecture, and direct observation, his practice opens up new ways of reading a place.

This exhibition is supported by: EU National Institutes for Culture and Italian Institute of Culture In Cairo together with the Students of the Academy of Fine Arts in Cairo

For three weeks, theatre-makers from different backgrounds worked with Spanish playwright and director Paco Gamez in Cairo, in a workshop organised by the Instituto Cervantes and EUNIC alongside the Cairo International Festival for Experimental Theatre.
The group explored a historic mansion as a performance space, moving through its different rooms and areas and developing scenes in response to what they found there. It also became an exercise in collaboration across language and cultural differences, with Gamez leaving room for the participants' ideas and experiences to drive the process.
We joined them to see how a historic Cairo building can become more than a setting - and what can emerge when Egyptian and Spanish theatre-makers create together.

⁨ ⁨ مبسوطين بالتعاون مع ‪‪@ashflo_events‬‬ وأننا نكون جزء من الافتتاح التجريبي ليهم خلال عرض «نحن هنا» في بيت السناري. ✨

"أشفلو" كانت مسؤلة عن إدارة الاستقبال وتنظيم حركة الجمهور، لتجربة سلسة ومتكاملة للجمهور.

العرض تم تقديمه ضمن برنامج الإقامات الفنية وبناء القدرات يونيك لعام 2026، بالشراكة مع وصلة، وبالتعاون مع مهرجان القاهرة الدولي للمسرح التجريبي – الدورة الثالثة والثلاثون.

مبسوطين اننا نكون جزء من أول خطواتهم.

We were glad to collaborate with Ashflo Events and be part of their soft opening during the “We Are Here” performance at Beit Al-Sinnari. ✨

Ashflø managed the Front of House & Audience Flow, creating a smooth experience for the audience.

The performance was presented as part of the EUNIC Residency & Capacity Building Program 2026, in partnership with Wasla, and in collaboration with the Cairo International Festival for Experimental Theatre 33rd edition.

The Open Call for the photography workshop “Observing Downtown and Zamalek in Cairo!” is now live as part of the EUNIC Residency & Capacity Building Program 2026 and in collaboration with the Downtown Contemporary Arts Festival (D-CAF). ✨

⭐️ Led by Italian photographer and visual artist Jacopo Valentini, this theoretical and practical workshop explores photography as a tool for research, observation, and visual experimentation.

Through practical exercises, discussions, and individual and group reviews, participants will develop their photographic language and create visual projects exploring urban life in Zamalek and Downtown Cairo. The workshop concludes with a final exhibition responding to the selected space.

Anyone interested in photography, including students of Visual Arts at the Academy of Fine Arts in Cairo, is welcome to apply. No previous photography experience is required, but participants must have access to a camera.

🗓 13 October–10 November 2026
16 workshop days, including the final student exhibition on 10 November.
First week: 12–8 PM | Following sessions: 4–8 PM
