Turns out WE DID HAVE IT IN US TO MAKE IT EPIC! Wasteland Weekend was honored to be asked to bring vehicles and folks in costume to Hollywood Blvd for a special event promoting @madmaxsaga! We brought 9 vehicles, including our war rig, and over 30 of our Wastelanders in full costume. And of course, our Wasteland War Boys we well represented. It all coincided with a segment for Jimmy Kimmel Live where we delivered @chrishemsworth and @anyataylorjoy on a brand new custom motorcycle chariot! (Built by our own Wes Fenton with Dan Bohman). The mastermind himself George Miller was there, and we got to hear him say “I feel like I’m back on set.” There is no greater compliment we could have hoped for. It was an honor to work with @wbpictures and @asherentertainment on this amazing event, and to be part of the official promotion for this incredible new movie that expands the #MadMax universe we so love. We have a lot of photos, video, and info we’ll be sharing in the coming days (including behind the scenes of what it took to put it all together), so keep an eye out. Thank you to Preston Yarger for capturing this image! #furiosa #madmax #wasteland #wastelandweekend #asherentertainment by @wastelandweekend

This was my 10th year making post-apocalyptic costumes and themed camps at @wastelandweekend, and it was easily one of the best. For all the new folks discovering WW for the first time, it’s 5 days straight in the middle of the Mojave desert, and costumes are mandatory for all attendees. Many of us build custom Mad Max-inspired dirt bikes, cars, trucks, and more to get around out there. I’ve been updating my Waterworld / Mad Max inspired scavenger costume this past year and still have a lot that needs to be finished, and most of the new pieces are nautical-themed. The mask is kitbashed (“junkbashed,” tbh) using found objects and cast industrial parts I’ve made molds of. The harness is also completely custom and is able to hold my repurposed chute container hat on the back of it with G-hooks. The swordfish bill staff was another super fun last minute build that I made using old bike parts. The space we create at @thetrooptribe has evolved so much each year and everybody did an amazing job at bringing it to life day and night for 5 days straight. I never take enough pictures but I love the small amount I took this year to remember our shady zone. Massive thanks to @ynevrov for being so eager to catch the best light with these golden hour photos! Can’t wait to share more from this week soon. by @wastelandweekend

The sun has set on @wastelandweekend year 16… Teardown is completely done (and in record time)! One of our best ever! Thanks to everyone who was a part of this and to our incredible last boots crew, seen here gathering T-posts in the twilight. See you in 2027. by @wastelandweekend

“I am the Praetorian Furiosa!” Yup. That’s me. Dressed as Furiosa and strapped (peep that 3pt safety harness I engineered for this! 😝) to the front of the Humongous Machine riding through the gates of @wastelandweekend after riding out front row of the Car Armada in the open desert! (Video and more pics to come I’m sure!) This was just one of MANY amazing moments that took place this year and I can’t wait to share so many more. HUGE thanks to Max(sorry idk your tag!) and @jimbamboo of @dogs_of_war_ww for this amazing opportunity. I can’t wait to upgrade this costume and maybe do more epic stuff with yall! (I already have the wig and a base jacket for the movie look !) Already counting down the days to next year!
