A day on from our eCampus Annual CEO Forum, an the ideas are still worth sitting with.

Dr William Lawrence linked lasting shareholder value to how a company allocates its capital.

Nadeen Matthews Blair kept the AI conversation practical, starting with processes and tools leaders can put to work now.

McKinsey & Company’s research points to the pace and accountability the most effective CEOs hold themselves to.

And our CEO panel spoke candidly about keeping teams steady through shock and uncertainty.

Some of the most useful exchanges happened away from the stage, as leaders from Jamaica’s private and public sectors shared ideas over lunch.

Thank you to every speaker and delegate who gave us their morning. We look forward to hosting you again. by @watchcbx

Scotia Group Jamaica is heading into next week’s critical shareholder vote confident that its bid to take the company private will succeed.

Minority shareholders are scheduled to vote on the proposed privatisation on October 7, but ahead of that decision, Scotia Group Jamaica President and Chief Executive Officer Audrey Tugwell-Henry is already signalling the outcome the bank’s leadership expects.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with CBX Business News, Tugwell-Henry described the transaction as one Scotia anticipates will be successful.

“The operations of Scotiabank remains unchanged even coming out of what we anticipate to be a successful privatization effort, because the intention of the privatization is not to retract from the market,” Tugwell-Henry said.
“We will continue to invest in this country to support commercial clients, corporate clients, the government of Jamaica, our retail clients, and of course to support the communities in which we do business, particularly through our Scotia Bank Foundation,” she adds.

The National Water Commission (NWC) is purchasing four million gallons of water daily from a private supplier as the Government turns to privately owned water infrastructure to supplement supplies amid worsening drought conditions.

Minister with responsibility for Water, Matthew Samuda, disclosed that the private supplier’s infrastructure has been interconnected with the NWC network in Portmore, allowing the utility company to purchase water in bulk for distribution to customers in the municipality.

The arrangement is also providing relief elsewhere in the network. Samuda said the additional supply for Portmore has reduced pressure on the Tulloch Spring system, allowing the NWC to redirect another four million gallons of water per day to southern St. Andrew.

Our @jseecampus Annual CEO Forum is under way, and the morning has been enlightening.

Group CEO Livingstone Morrison opened on the difference between leading and managing, and why it carries more weight now than it ever has. Patrick Hylton followed with what years of running a major financial group taught him about disruption and risk.

Since then, the sessions have covered business model strategy and how AI can be used in leadership. Our partners at McKinsey & Company will take delegates through their latest research on what sets top-performing CEOs apart.

Our panel of CEOs will close the programme with a conversation on leading through uncertainty. by @watchcbx
