🇹🇷⌚️ Patek Philippe 5110P-001 – but not as you know it. 🌍🇹🇷

A World Time that’s been quietly rewritten.
Custom dial featuring Türkiye at the heart of the map, with Istanbul promoted to the time-zone ring exactly where history, trade, and horology intersect.

The 5110P already sits in a special chapter of Patek history:
– Last generation before the 5130
– Platinum case with discreet authority
-Guilloché base dial originally meant to disappear, not shout; the enamel now lets it speak selectively, to those who know. 🤫

By reworking the map and city ring, the watch shifts from universal to personal — without breaking the rules of world-time symmetry. That’s the hard part. Most custom dials fail right there.

Look closely:
The balance of continents is preserved.
The world time logic remains intact.
Nothing screams aftermarket — it whispers intent.

75,000 watches a year. Around 16.5 million components. And yes, I’m visiting Patek Philippe’s Watch Art Grand Exhibition in Milan, where 19 base calibres deserve as much attention as the watches they power.

From Rare Handcrafts to chiming watches, there’s so much here to feed the obsession. Beautiful dials draw you in; understanding the mechanics, the craftsmanship and the decisions behind them keeps you looking.

Milano, you’ve been very good to this Watch Geek. 🇮🇹⌚️

All I need to know is either to move Milan or find a bellisima wife to get an allocation 😜🤣

Louis Vuitton’s Savoir Rêver. ✨

What I love is the combination of serious craftsmanship and a playful imagination. The skill to make something extraordinary, and the confidence to have a little fun with it.

Patek just dropped the panty droppers💎😮‍💨

The new Gondolo Ladies First: six references, soft cushion-shaped cases, articulated lugs and some very distracting gem-setting. The Joaillerie versions turn things up with diamond-paved dials and coloured hour markers in amethyst, tsavorite or blue topaz.

Yes, they’re quartz. The only thing getting wound up is the comments section. 😉

Patek calls them “Ladies First.” I’m calling dibs.

7.6 cm of gold wire. Approximately 0.04 grams. An entire volcanic landscape. 🌋🔥

The Patek Philippe Golden Ellipse “Mount Merapi,” ref. 5738/50J-010, deserves a much closer look. There are three different métiers d’art working together on this dial:

🔬 Cloisonné enamel: fine gold wire defines the volcanic contours, with six colours of transparent and opaque enamel building the scene.

✨ Paillonné enamel: gold leaf sits beneath translucent enamel, giving the lava its luminous depth. That glow has gold underneath it.

🖌️ Miniature painting on enamel: five additional colours bring detail to the rising ash column and the fiery cloud descending the slopes.

Each dial goes through ten firings at 770°C. A watch depicting fire, made through fire.

Then there’s the wonderfully restrained engineering surrounding all that drama: a yellow-gold case measuring 34.5 × 39.5 mm, just 6.58 mm thick, with proportions inspired by the golden ratio.

Inside is the automatic calibre 240: only 2.53 mm thick, with an off-centre 22K gold mini-rotor. Behind it, a solid caseback engraved with the volcano and its name.

The geek appeal here is the scale. Fractions of a gram, centimetres of wire and layers of enamel turn a tiny dial into a landscape you can keep exploring.

Every chapter begins with a trunk. 🧳❄️

Louis Vuitton’s Escale en Alaska. What makes this unique piece so extraordinary: the dial isn’t simply animated it becomes a living Arctic landscape.

As the automaton comes to life, the glaciers drift, the whale dives, the orca surfaces, the penguins move across the ice, the compass rose rotates, and the Louis Vuitton trunks open one by one. The three registers don’t just sit on the dial. They’re born from it. 💙🌊

Imagine if the Grand Feu Storm Blue enamel behaved like liquid glass, flowing across the dial before cascading into the smoked sapphire chronograph registers like waterfalls, revealing the mechanics beneath.

That was the inspiration behind this animation.

The watch itself is every bit as captivating:
