The Rome Marathon 2023 was a rollercoaster of emotions for me! Despite having suffered from food poisoning just three days prior and not feeling anywhere close to 100%, I still managed to achieve a personal record 🤯 I’m still not entirely sure how I did it, but I did, and the experience left me feeling overwhelmed.

If you’re considering running the Rome Marathon, here are a few things you should know:
1. Be prepared for the effects of jet lag and changes in air quality. Even if you arrive early and take precautions, your body may still struggle to adjust. It’s crucial to maintain your normal diet and be mindful of what you eat to avoid food poisoning 🫢
2. It was very chilly during the marathon, so make sure you dress appropriately. The temperature was around 46 F or 8 degrees Celsius when we began, and arm warmers were an absolute must! 🥶
3. Getting to the metal detectors and the start line is not straightforward, so make sure you give yourself plenty of time in the morning. There’s also a half-mile walk that only runners can take before reaching the start line, so make sure you get those pre-run cries out early 🥹
4. It’s hard to enjoy the scenery when theirs men peeing EVERYWHERE 😂
5. Finally, and perhaps most importantly, there is a severe shortage of portable toilets along the route, so if you need to go…you can’t. You must hold it…or don’t hold it 😥

Overall, the Rome Marathon was an incredible experience, and I would highly recommend it to anyone who loves running and adventure. Just be prepared for the unexpected and embrace the challenge! 🙌🏼🏛🇮🇹🫶🏼

SURPRISE b*tches! Best reason to go on a 10 month running hiatus.
Am I eager af to get back to running? YES! But I don’t want to be peeing my pants when I sneeze for the rest of my life so I’m giving my body time and taking the full 3 months suggested time of rest from high impact exercise.
