Grandma, are you there?

Grandma, I called you and you didn’t pick up. I was calling to hear your voice and now my world is shaken up. I am in disbelief how this can ever be. I had plans where you were going to live with me. It was all planned out we talked about it every other day. I’m sorry I couldn’t make it happen sooner. Now I am stuck with this huge stain on my broken heart. I was supposed to do more and now I am left with what if. I feel lonelier than ever now that I can’t hear you over the phone. I don’t want to move on because when you left a piece of me died. I do my best to keep busy. Or else I will drown myself in my tears not looking for another day. It’s because my heart is in pain. Every smile I put up is just so I won’t burst out and cry. You made me feel special and you made me believe. You gave me your time and attention. That’s what makes me who I am today. Now that you are gone that part is fading away. I hate that I am speaking of you in the past and no longer in the present. You were my driving force. Yet I am thankful to had have you for 37 years. I almost called you the other day. Only to remember you are no longer here. I was just a Grandson wanting to take care of his Grandma. That’s all I lived to do. I’m glad I was able to experience that. Look around you. Who do you call your friends?
Are they building you up—or holding you back?

Most people fall into their friend groups by accident.
School, the neighborhood, nights out—good times.
But if you look closer, what do you really share?

Do you meet to smoke, drink, complain, or escape?
Do you talk about ideas, or just gossip about others?
Do you leave feeling inspired—or drained?

Here’s the truth:
You become like the people you’re with.
Their habits become your habits.
Their limits become your limits.

Cutting ties is hard.
Comfort is familiar.
But familiar is often what keeps you stuck.

Growth demands space.
When you clear the old, you invite the new.
People who push you to rise.
Who see the future you—even before you do.
Together, you bloom.

So, ask yourself:
Who around you reflects the life you want?
Who is already living the way you dream to live?
Is this person pulling me closer to God or closer to hell?

If the answer is “no one,”
It’s time to open new doors.

Raise your standards.
Find those who inspire you.
Let their energy lift you.
And watch how fast you grow.
Remember life is all about growth. So you are either helping me or hurting me.

Change your circle—
Change your life.
