Arguably the most colorful animals in the ocean, Nudibranchs are soft-bodied marine gastropod molluscs that ditch their shell after the larval stage to live the squishy life around the world. With thousands of radically colored species that live in all of Earth’s oceans, we couldn’t bring ourselves to limit the design to just one, and instead created a magical mosaic of mollusc magnificence that celebrates 23 different species!

We’re launching this line with two legging designs, a reversible top, unisex shorts, a sunsuit, headband and scrunchie. But because our sea slug spirit runs so deep, we also created three 100% organic cotton graphic tees that tell the world, “Hey, I love nudibranchs and so should you!”

5% of sales from your purchase are donated to the Gosliner Slug Lab in the Invertebrate Zoology and Geology department at @calacademy Led by the “Godfather of Nudibranchs” Dr. Terry Gosliner, they are the world’s leading research group studying nudibranchs globally and have identified and scientifically described over a third of known species. Your support will fund research projects that include developing molecular methods to understand the diversity of nudibranch families and how nudibranch diversity can serve as indicators of ecosystem health and provide the basis for establishing new marine protected areas.

5 days until we have been cold plunging for an entire year for the endangered southern resident orcas!

The Waterlust team had the privilege of joining the Miami-Dade County Sea Turtle Conservation Program for a morning of sea turtle nest excavations! This team surveys the entire 19 miles of beach in the county every day from March to October. This particular morning, they noticed a few of the loggerhead nests had little turtle tracks which meant the nest probably hatched the night before! 🐾

During an excavation, data is collected including the number of hatched and whole eggs found in the nest. The number of hatched eggs gives them insight into how many baby sea turtles made it out. But sometimes there are a few stragglers that didn’t leave with their siblings. So the team gives them a helping hand to start their life at sea. We were just excited to see some baby sea turtles 🤓🐢

Turns out feeling alive looks a little different for everyone. Mine just happens to have sharks. 🦈🌊

11/10 recommend bringing your own fins and not forgetting them.
10/10 recommend you finding your GoPro batteries in advance so you don’t have to pay for another there.
12/10 recommend you bring your weight belt.

I spent a week in California with one of my besties, and she planned me a trip all around Sea Sluggin’!! We tidepooles in Montaña de Oro, we dockfouled in Morro Bay, and we even snorkelled in the Channel Islands!! I added 12 species to my life list (plus a flatworm who didn’t quite make the photo dump) and had an amazing time!!! yay!!

While most of us are fast asleep in our beds, the dedicated Miami Dade County Sea Turtle Team are up at the crack of dawn monitoring every nest along the 19 miles of the county’s beaches EVERY DAY.

We were lucky enough to tag along and experience a nest evaluation and some hatchling releases! Want to experience this for yourself? Head over to their website for the public events happening for the rest of the nesting season.
