My dad passed away suddenly Wednesday afternoon. I’m devastated. Death is inevitable and yet it feels like it won’t touch you and your family. You would think it would hurt less, considering he was 72 and had medical issues, but there’s never enough time with someone you love. I’m reminded how much God loves us, that He gave us eternity after this life, because He knows the grief of losing a loved one.

Majority of people don’t know that he isn’t my biological father and yet he freely chose to love me and claim me as his daughter. He never told me why, despite me constantly asking. This also reminds me of the times I’ve asked God why and how He could love me, so much that He came down and experienced worse grief. How amazing to know and love God, who experienced immeasurable grief, just so I could spend eternity with Him and receive His comfort in these unbearable seasons.

Lord, thank you for your love. Thank you for using my earthly father, James, to show me love. He was far from perfect but he was perfect for me. I pray that his death reminds everyone who knew him that this life is temporary, just a vapor. But there is eternal life with Jesus if you just believe that his death, burial, and resurrection is the only payment for your sin.

Daddy I love you so much. Words can not describe. I will miss you deeply and daily.

For those who knew him, we will be holding a viewing service and a memorial next weekend. I will post details once they are final. by @watevsp
