📌Ribeira Grande, São Miguel, Azores

Lost in the endless layers of green on São Miguel.🌿Our journey took us to Ribeira Grande, a city where historic charm meets the wild Atlantic waves. Just a short drive away, we discovered a piece of living history: the only industrial tea plantations in all of Europe.🫖

Stepping into Chá Gorreana, the oldest factory on the continent (dating back to 1883), felt like traveling back in time. Walking through the rhythmic rows of tea bushes with the ocean as a backdrop is an experience we won’t soon forget. We also visited the intimate Chá Porto Formoso, where the tradition of Azorean tea-making is kept alive with so much passion.

Spent the day exploring the ‘open-air museums’ of Marvila and Parque das Nações.
Seeing the giant Iberian Lynx by Bordalo II in person was a total highlight- it’s wild to see how he turns recycled trash into such powerful art. Every corner of this city tells a story 🎨

Standing at 5,000+ meters above sea level, surrounded by the peaks of the Andes. 🏔️❄️

Pastoruri Glacier near Huaraz, Peru, is one of the most incredible places in the Cordillera Blanca — but it is also a powerful reminder of how quickly our planet is changing.

🌎 Pastoruri Glacier is slowly disappearing as temperatures rise. Its future is uncertain, and the landscape may look very different in the years ahead. 🧊

Seeing this glacier in person was beautiful, but also a little confronting. It makes climate change feel much more real when you can literally see the ice disappearing. 🧊

The Andes around Huaraz feel almost unreal — jagged peaks, turquoise lakes, endless valleys and landscapes shaped by altitude, ice and time. 🏔️🇵🇪

But somewhere between the mountains and the clouds, we discovered three natural phenomena that made this part of Peru even more special.

🩵 Carbonated water from the ground
Cold, naturally sparkling water bubbling up from the earth.

🌈 A lake of seven colours
A surreal palette of blues, greens, turquoise and earthy tones, changing with the light and minerals in the landscape.

🌿 The Queen of the Andes — Puya raimondii
Perhaps the most incredible one. This giant bromeliad can spend 40–70 years growing before flowering just once in its lifetime. Then it sends a spectacular flower spike soaring several metres into the sky, before the plant eventually dies. It’s also the largest bromeliad in the world.

Three reminders that in the Peruvian Andes, nature works on a completely different timescale.

The beauty of the Andes 🏔️🇵🇪

The journey to Rocotuyoc takes you through some incredible Andean landscapes — winding mountain roads, dramatic peaks, green valleys and endless views that make you want to stop every few minutes.

And then, along the way, there’s this beautiful waterfall — just another reminder of how much natural beauty is hidden in the Peruvian Andes.

The landscape alone makes the journey unforgettable. ✨

A day trip to Rocotuyoc, Peru 🇵🇪⛰️

Getting there was an adventure in itself — the bus ride up the mountain was definitely a little nerve-racking, with narrow roads and dramatic drops along the way. 😅 But once we arrived, it was more than worth it.

At around 4,500 m (14,800 ft) above sea level, Rocotuyoc feels like another world. 💙

We discovered two stunning high-altitude lakes with incredibly clear, turquoise water, surrounded by rugged Andean peaks and beautiful wildflowers. 🌸🩵

What makes Rocotuyoc so special is the combination of two alpine lakes, glacial water and the raw beauty of the Cordillera Blanca.

Llanganuco Lake, Huaraz, Peru 🇵🇪🏔️

Our third high-altitude adventure around Huaraz took us to the stunning Llanganuco Lakes in the Cordillera Blanca. 💙

Not much walking this time, but definitely a long bus ride to get there — and absolutely worth it. The turquoise water, dramatic Andean mountains and incredible altitude made this another unforgettable day in Peru.

Slowly getting used to the altitude, one adventure at a time. 🏔️✨

Huaraz, Peru 🇵🇪

Huaraz was so much more than mountains. We loved the kind and welcoming people, the colorful Sunday market nearby and seeing locals still wearing their beautiful traditional Andean clothing. ❤️

The local food was delicious, fresh and full of natural ingredients. It also made us realize how much we can learn from the people here about healthy, simple and local eating. 🌿

A beautiful and authentic experience in the heart of the Andes. 🏔️

The second trail of our adventure in Huaraz, Peru 🇵🇪🏔️

This time we hiked to Laguna Radian, a beautiful high-altitude lake surrounded by the incredible landscapes of the Peruvian Andes. At around 3,950 meters (12,960 ft) above sea level, every step felt a little more intense — but the views made it completely worth it.

What made this hike especially unforgettable was reaching the viewpoint where we could look out over Huaraz below us, while in the distance we could see Huascarán, the highest mountain in Peru, rising to 6,768 meters (22,205 ft). Standing there, surrounded by the Andes, made us realize how small we are compared to these mountains.

Our second trail, and already another memory we won’t forget. The altitude challenged us, the views amazed us, and the Andes left us wanting more. 🏔️✨
