Some of the best family trips are the ones with the least planned. A pool outside the front door, a beach a mile down the road, five surf breaks for every age and level, and enough space inside for everyone to have their own rhythm during the day.

Villa 1 at The Point in Playa Avellanas is a two-bedroom villa inside a private community. Quiet, safe, surrounded by tropical gardens and the kind of setting that makes kids want to go outside. Howler monkeys in the mornings, Scarlet Macaws in the afternoons, nature does the entertaining.

🇨🇷 Este pasado viernes los niños de Sol Academy tuvieron un día comunitario muy diferente en Playa Avellanas. Aprendieron a recolectar semillas directamente de los árboles y del suelo, a identificar árboles jóvenes que ya crecen naturalmente en la tierra, y a llevarlos al vivero de Costa Verde donde serán cuidados hasta que estén lo suficientemente fuertes para ser replantados de vuelta en la playa.

Es un ciclo completo, del árbol, al vivero, de regreso a donde pertenece. Y los niños que los plantaron algún día pasarán junto a los árboles que ayudaron a crecer.

Orgullosos de ser parte de esta comunidad. 🌱🌳

🇺🇸 This past Friday the children of Sol Academy had a very different kind of community day in Playa Avellanas. They learned how to collect seeds directly from the trees and from the ground, how to identify young trees already growing naturally in the soil, and how to bring them to Costa Verde’s nursery where they will be cared for until they are strong enough to be replanted back on the beach.

It is a full circle, from the tree, to the nursery, back to where they belong. And the kids who planted them will one day walk past the trees they helped grow.

Board under your arm, wax on, teacher ready and then straight into the water. This is a regular morning in Playa Avellanas.

December and January are two of the best months of the year here. The dry season is in full swing, the waves are consistent, offshore winds and the light is golden from morning to evening. If Christmas or New Year in Costa Rica has been on your list, now is the time to start looking at dates.

Three bedrooms, a detached private apartment and space for nine. Playa Avellanas a mile away. Fast WiFi. A pool outside the front door.

Some people come to Avellanas for a week and start doing the maths on staying longer. Villa 21 at The Point is the kind of setup that makes that conversation happen. Enough space to work properly, enough distance from everything else to actually focus, and the ocean there when you are done for the day.

Three bedrooms means you bring whoever you want and everyone still has their own space. But honestly, two people in a villa like this in Playa Avellanas is not a bad way to spend a week either.

Casa Double Dos at The Point. Modern, light, a pool right outside and Avellanas down the road. The kind of place that turns a holiday into something you talk about for a while after.
