Doomscroll Intermission #3

A brief pause from your algorithmic time warp and a futile attempt at resistance of the constantly shrinking human attention span. Worth noting none of this was filmed more than 100m from a public road, real life rips way harder than your phone and it's all right there if you just go looking for it.

Recorded the score for this using the Hydrasynth Explorer and a few hardware FX sends (Tape Echo, Spring Verb, Submarine Verb) on the analog desk, then layered in Ableton along with the field recordings and audio from the footage.

The world is heating up and the war mongering parasites are pulling all their levers. We need more oil, the datacenter needs more water, fuel prices have gone crazy and we cant even make bombs to kill eachother fast enough to keep up with our desire to kill. No one needs musicians because the AI can play it for you now. Big Brother is watching you more than ever. No one has an attention span any more. All the most vapid fuckwits from high-school are real estate agents now and half my friends have left the country because its rigged to incentivise being a property developing prick. And that's not even getting started on 'those' files.

But even amongst that shit show and all the chaos in the world, it still really is a pretty beautiful place when you stop and look around. As you were..

Went way long in the wind yesterday and shattered my ankle, broke all sorts of fun stuff in my foot, ligaments etc. Not stoked (like really not stoked) but considering the height and distance of the drop to flat it for sure could have been worse. Pretty hectic pain and the timing sucks but you gotta pay to play, I'll be back at it asap 🦿🌊 by @wavrunnr_

Doomscroll Intermission #6

Live scored tidal motions of northland in reverse. The many gears of the natural world struggle to pull under the braking force of man. Eventually they stall, finally to fall in reverse. The rhythms of nature are no longer familiar and time itself seemingly refuses to walk along an axis recognizable by man.

Cutting my remix for @_shankara_nz latest project Aurora.

Heaps of fun reworking layers from both of the songs he made for the release and then adding my own style on top.

Always gonna be my favourite way to make and record music; conducted through the desk using the ears more than the eyes. Tuned in to catch lightning in a bottle because you never dub it the same twice.

Sunday closing session at Rolling Hertz 2026 🌿

Fresh off the plane to Nelson on the back of a next level sheller of a set on Saturday night at Shipwrecked in AKL. After a hectic airport dash and running on a sleepless weekend I quickly wired up my hardware setup back stage, shook off the dust (literally) and got ready to help close out the last day of Rolling Hertz in the beloved Cobb Valley 🏞🔊
