My first attempt at a self portrait ceramic water glass. Here’s how I made it:

-Self-portrait on @procreate
-2.5 lbs Kota Porcelain (cone 5/6, @kentuckymudworks )
-Underglaze using @buschkraftstudio carving tool + Stroke & Coat in Hot Tamale
-clear / matte black glaze post-bisque
-Blue tape for clean lines ✨

First batch of making test tiles using the following pigments:

-Copper carbonate (blue)
-Rutile (yellow)
-Iron Oxide (red)
-Iron oxide (black)
-Titanium Dioxide (white/opacifier)

Comment with any questions or what colors you’d like to see next. Reds and Purples are classically difficult to make and often turn brownish as seen with this group but now that I have my own kiln I’m working to control more variables such as firing temperature and inlet oxygen. Mug Journey Continues!

I started off by cutting a piece of wood to use as the structure to shape the handles. This was a batch of 12 mugs and now we just wait for them to slowly dry and pray for now cracks 🙏
