Washington Community Fellowship is a Christ-centered, multi-denominational faith community in Washington, DC. Join us online Sundays at 10:30am.

POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Hagar. Adam and Eve. Joseph. Moses. For so many characters in Scripture, being seen and known by God — and by others — changes everything. We are so excited for our church retreat next weekend!

Beginning with the question, “Where have you come from?”, we will reflect on our own stories and what we bring into this weekend. As we move toward “Where are you?” and “Where are you going?”, we will create space to notice where God is present in our lives and community, to receive God’s love without needing to have everything figured out, and to listen for where God may be inviting us next.

Through storytelling, embodied reflection, and conversation with one another, we will explore what it means to be fully seen, known, and loved by the God who is forming us

📖🫀 We are not meant to just read Scripture, but to 𝙚𝙢𝙗𝙤𝙙𝙮 𝙞𝙩.

The Bible’s power multiplies when we read it not as isolated individuals, but as one people carrying each other’s stories.

God’s word dwells among his people so that we can embody a 𝙙𝙞𝙛𝙛𝙚𝙧𝙚𝙣𝙩 kind of life amid a broken world.

WCF is a multidenominational community: We believe the Spirit has given gifts to the whole church for the building up of the 𝙬𝙝𝙤𝙡𝙚 𝙘𝙝𝙪𝙧𝙘𝙝.

In 𝑷𝒓𝒂𝒄𝒕𝒊𝒄𝒆 𝑴𝒂𝒌𝒆𝒔 𝑷𝒆𝒐𝒑𝒍𝒆, we're exploring practices that shape WCF and the kind of community they are forming us to become.

We receive these practices — liturgy, communion, scripture, and more — as gifts, and want to embrace their richness and how Jesus is forming us in them.

Join us Sundays at 10:30am, in person or online at wcfchurch.org/live

🤝 Eternal life isn't just about 𝙙𝙪𝙧𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣. Eternal life is about 𝙥𝙖𝙧𝙩𝙞𝙘𝙞𝙥𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣.

Eternal life isn’t a distant hope. Every act of courage, every moment of surrendered love, becomes a signpost of the eternal life already at work.

And this promise from God is what gives us true confidence, even in the midst of fear.

💞 𝙒𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙙𝙤𝙚𝙨 𝙞𝙩 𝙡𝙤𝙤𝙠 𝙡𝙞𝙠𝙚 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙩𝙤 𝙡𝙤𝙫𝙚 𝙬𝙞𝙩𝙝𝙤𝙪𝙩 𝙛𝙚𝙖𝙧?

God is 𝙡𝙤𝙫𝙚, and loving 𝙂𝙤𝙙 = loving 𝙥𝙚𝙤𝙥𝙡𝙚.

Elder Philip Chou reminds us: Love isn’t a feeling we create ourselves, but a reality flowing from God’s identity.

How does knowing 𝙂𝙤𝙙 𝙞𝙨 𝙡𝙤𝙫𝙚 help you to love others?

Feeling overwhelmed by everything happening around voting rights in America—and wondering how to respond faithfully?

Join Evangelicals 4 Justice (@evang4justice) on Zoom this Thursday, August 20, at 3 p.m. EDT / 12 PDT for a conversation with voting rights attorney Jacob Shelly, facilitated by Pastor Andrew!

Drawing on both his legal experience and Christian faith, Jacob will help us understand the current landscape, the challenges facing American democracy, and how followers of Jesus might respond.

🔆 In this family, we stay 𝙥𝙧𝙚𝙨𝙚𝙣𝙩. We pay 𝙖𝙩𝙩𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣. We bring ourselves 𝙞𝙣𝙩𝙤 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙡𝙞𝙜𝙝𝙩.

In the garden, out of his deep love, Jesus stayed before the Father with sweat, anguish, and prayer, facing the suffering that was coming.

Elder Neal Smith reminded us that belonging to God's family calls us to stay with one another. It also leads us to name the stories that are buried within us that lead us to sin against our siblings in Christ.

What is a 𝙥𝙡𝙖𝙘𝙚 𝙤𝙛 𝙜𝙧𝙞𝙚𝙛 you need to share with someone else today?

💗 "𝙍𝙚𝙢𝙖𝙞𝙣 𝙞𝙣 𝙝𝙞𝙢."

John will not let anyone make Jesus into whatever fits a spiritual system.

Elder Matt Sickle @msickle encouraged us as John does in chapter 2: Remain in the 𝙖𝙣𝙤𝙞𝙣𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙜 you already received, the real work of the Holy Spirit.

🪾🚶🏽‍♀️ "𝘼𝙗𝙞𝙙𝙚. 𝙎𝙩𝙖𝙮 𝙘𝙡𝙤𝙨𝙚 𝙩𝙤 𝙅𝙚𝙨𝙪𝙨. 𝙍𝙚𝙢𝙖𝙞𝙣 𝙬𝙞𝙩𝙝 𝙝𝙞𝙢."

Our formation happens slowly, through abiding rather than striving

On Sunday, Pastor Andrew preached on The Shape of Grace, reminding us that the grace of God doesn't doesn't simply forgive us—it forms us.

As we continue in 𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑺𝒉𝒂𝒑𝒆 𝒐𝒇 𝑮𝒐𝒅'𝒔 𝑳𝒐𝒗𝒆, we'll keep learning to 𝙬𝙖𝙡𝙠 as Jesus walked, stop 𝙝𝙞𝙙𝙞𝙣𝙜, confess 𝙝𝙤𝙣𝙚𝙨𝙩𝙡𝙮, and 𝙧𝙚𝙘𝙚𝙞𝙫𝙚 grace again and again.

Join us next week as we continue in 1 John!

In Scripture, love is more than sentiment or self-expression. 𝙂𝙤𝙙’𝙨 𝙡𝙤𝙫𝙚 𝙩𝙖𝙠𝙚𝙨 𝙨𝙝𝙖𝙥𝙚—in truth, forgiveness, community, hospitality, courage, and sacrificial care for others.

The center of the Christian life is the love of God revealed in Jesus. And as we abide in Christ together, the Church becomes a visible expression of God’s love in the world.

Join us this summer as we camp out in 1, 2 and 3 John. Learn more about the series and summer worship at Washington Community Fellowship by visiting wcfchurch.org/shape
