“Interval Studies: Colour in Time” Opening: Wed 23 Sept 6 – 8:30 pm Bringing together the practices of Alice Browne, Hannah Maybank, Liz Elton, Masako Yasuki, and Takumi Kato, this exhibition explores five artists who work with natural materials to produce vivid, individually developed dyes and pigments. Pigments hold histories of chance, experimentation, and scientific discovery, supporting artistic expression from the Renaissance to the present day. Through time, restoration, and gradual change, these works will continue to transform in appearance, allowing time to become a collaborator and revealing a beauty that unfolds into the future. Save The Date Interval Studies; Colour in Time Opening Wed 23 Sept 6 – 8:30 pm Alice Browne, Hannah Maybank, Liz Elton, Takumi Kato, Masako Yasuki 24 Sept – 18 Oct Bringing together five artists who use natural materials to create their own vivid dyes and pigments for their work. Pigments embody histories of chance, experimentation, and science, enabling self-expression and artistic movements from Renaissance to Modernism. Aging and restoration can obscure artworks. Since concerns arose at South Kensington Museum in 1886, conservation anticipates material change, carefully distinguishing aging from damage and deciding when restoration should ultimately begin. The aging effect is an expressive approach that allows time to become a collaborator. It is a beauty shaped by the passage of time, slowly unfolding as the work lives on. 1: Alice Browne / untitled 2: Takumi Kato / To Translate (my name) 3: Liz Elton / Skin and Stones 4: Hannah Maybank / A Study of Anne in Winter 5: Masako Yasuko / Exposed Scape – Coastal Pine Trees (Noto Peninsula) @alicerbrowne @takumikatostudio @liz_elton @hannahmaybankartist @masakoyasuki #opening #pigment #naturaldye #londongallery by @wcp_events
“An exhibition of small things with big ideas”— held annually @whiteconduitprojects_london from the festive season through mid-January—will return for its 5th edition in 2026–27. For this milestone exhibition, co-curators Paul Carey-Kent and Yuki Miyake will combine 30 invited artists with 70 to be chosen through an open call. Each artist will present a statement outlining the concept behind a small, affordable work, inviting viewers to consider the relationship between scale and meaning. The exhibition highlights how even the smallest works can provoke thought, kindle conversation, and engage with contemporary themes. To access the guidelines and application form, please select “Open Call” from the menu on the White Conduit Projects website. #opencall #contemporaryart #現代アート by @wcp_events

By showcasing familiar faces and tangible examples of recyclable items, the posters invite others to check their bins and make small changes that improve recycling quality. In addition to raising awareness, the artworks foster community pride and demonstrate that everyday choices directly benefit local waste reduction efforts. The collaboration blends creativity with environmental action, turning ordinary recycling into visible stories that inspire neighbours to recycle right. We want to mention that it began when Jake Tilson’s exhibition at White Conduit Projects about Tokyo’s Tsukiji food market was seen by a Council Market Development Officer, who then commissioned a project about Chapel Market. We engaged Freddie Yauner to focus on the global circulation of food that comes to Chapel Market and the local market traders who handle it, creating an exhibition full of delightful discoveries. The resulting works and a video were later displayed at Islington Library. @islingtoncouncil @freddieyauner by @wcp_events
Islington Council has teamed up with local artist Freddie Yauner to encourage residents to recycle correctly by highlighting everyday recyclers across the borough. Freddie sought out local people who consistently recycle and created portraits of them using their own recyclable materials. The resulting artworks celebrate practical, positive recycling habits and show how individual actions add up. These portraits have been reproduced as posters and are now displayed on streets and community spaces throughout Islington. The campaign aims to make recycling guidance more relatable and memorable by putting real residents—and the materials they recycle—at the centre of the message. WCP was very pleased to host this celebratory evening. @freddieyauner by @wcp_events
