Skip the restaurant lineup (for now). Just between Fly Creek and Cooperstown, there's a food truck doing fresh, made-to-order lunch or early dinner with a view that honestly shouldn't be free. Wednesday–Saturday, 11am–5pm. Get there early and before mid-September — the line fills up with people who live here, and that's basically the whole review.

45 minutes from Cooperstown, there's a village that spent decades telling the federal government no — and won. 🏡

All 114 buildings. Every street. The whole thing is on the National Register of Historic Places. First village in New York State listed entirely. They earned it.

Here's what Saturday looks like: bakery at 7, Tudor manor before the tourists figure out it exists, four shops on Marion Avenue that are each their own rabbit hole, 14 acres of free sculpture on a hillside that charges you nothing, and dinner by the fireplace at a building that survived an 1874 fire and kept going.

August 29 is the move: GEM Music and Arts Festival, free, rain or shine, 3–8 PM at the sculpture park. Build your whole day around it.

LAST CHANGEOVER DAY OF 2026. August 23. WE MADE IT. 🏁🍺

Every. Single. Week. We sat with the schedule. We tracked the rotation. We warned you about Route 28 and 205. We did the math on a 6-day cycle so you didn't have to think about it at the grocery store. And now — NOW — it's the final one, and it's a light one, and we are going to celebrate this at like we planned a parade.

Cold drink. Baseball next to it doing nothing. That's the vibe.

Normal people have one event. The Butternut Valley has a two-weekend series spanning three towns, a 5K run called the HELLBENDER, 48 miles of gravel riding you didn't train enough for, live music on multiple occasions in multiple zip codes, and a festival inside a sculpture park, because obviously.

August 22: show up in Garrattsville, run 5K at 9:30 am, or suffer beautifully on a CNY Cycling gravel route, then let Butternuts Beer & Ale's Summer Harvest Festival remind you that you are, in fact, having a great time. Outdoor movie to close.

August 23: Morris Music Festival at the Gatehouse Coffee Shop & Mercantile. You're still not recovered but you are definitely going.

August 29: GEM Music & Arts Festival at GEM Sculpture Park in Gilbertsville from 3-8PM for Free. Art. Music. A sculpture park. The Butternut Valley Alliance is not playing around.

July 30 is changeover day, and part of Route 28 is about to resemble a parking lot with opinions. 🚙💀

Today's the big one: Changeover Day AND Induction Weekend in Cooperstown. Translation - this part of the county is full. Plenty of reasons to be out, so plan your day (and your weekend) accordingly. 🫡

🚗 2–3 PM — Route 28 southbound out of Coop backs up. Reroute, or leave way earlier.
🛒 Tonight — grocery stores are gonna be packed. Beat the rush or embrace it.

It's not chaos, it's just peak summer. Pad the drive, save some grace for yourself and the visitors, and lean into the weekend.

☀️ Tomorrow: 8–9 AM — a little backup as folks head to opening ceremonies

The rotation's landed on us again - the next Changeover Day is officially here. And look at us, posting it on the actual ✨correct date✨ this time. Right month, right day, no notes. We're as shocked as you are. 🎉

Expect 28 going south to get busy in that usual 2-to-4 window (and tomorrow during the 8am hour) and expect yourself to handle it like a seasoned local, because you are one. In a great way.

It's July 11, and that means another Changeover Day in Oneonta, which means the usual streets get a little ✨character✨ at the usual hours. Nothing a ten-minute head start and three deep breaths can't fix.

And here's the move most people miss: it's also Day 6 in Cooperstown - aka the single smartest window to knock out your Oneonta grocery haul before the other Park takes its turn at Oneonta stores tomorrow.
