We had the Harvest Moon rising in the Eastern sky.

On my way home, I couldn't resist capturing this Beautiful display, showing different colors than in the light of Day.

Those sparkly cones were much admired last November, at a LYS in Vermillion. So I was thrilled to see a bigger selection of colors, featured in another LYS, quite a bit closer to me. Thank you, Joanne.

I have yarns already in Stash, for only my 2nd baby sweater ever. But there's a little boy downstairs, and he's growing fast. It was nice to see my pattern in the wild. (Suffice to say my sister & I both admired the dyers collection of Dee O'Keefe & Stephen West.) I have her yarns for a #Usonianshawl I've not cast on yet.

Of course I had to peruse the rack of Plaques made by Bobbie's husband. I have my favorites sitting at home with me.

Couldn't resist the Pollenators. Looked at the project bag, but opted for the Circular needles pouch.

And I just have to give a shout out to Karida C. at our well-loved and once local @neighborhoodfiberco
You were talked about. I met this young man.. I admired his shawl, and we talked about Maxim Cyr..
(Then we crossed paths again, this time with... I know you.. How? And it came down to WonderKnit and Sunday afternoons with Karida 's tea & crumpets crowd.)

I didn't do it quite as deliciously as yours, Shireen... But I really couldn't resist. (So, my sincere apologies for the delayed posting. I just couldn't find any good representation last week.)

For the record, I ate a Black Plum with breakfast, and a Red Plum for a late night snack. (I didn't think about ice cream, even once.)

Current WIPs

Summer WIPs wind down into Fall KALs.

Knitting Surgery on standby - pending gathering necessary tools and assisting devices. Because I Need to See what my hands are doing.

"Meanwhile Back At The Ranch"...

A somewhat familiar stitch got turned on its side, and my brain is challenged to see how things fit together.

In fact it is kicking my butt so thoroughly I've begun to doubt my capacity to comprehend things.

I think I must flip it back into the upright position and practice increasing my Brioche stitches.

At least I can still retreat back to my Organic knitting in a WIP that I hope to wear this year before I need to break out my woolies.

So I explored the racks and settled for Planetarium colorways - "The Sun" - looked a likely gem.

When showed it to my shutterbug brother, he agreed it matched his setting Sun perfectly. (Take a look at my last frame. I'm sure you'll agree.)

As I was getting my yarns caked for the KALs launching September 1st, shop crew took a phone call.

It appears that I was the Lucky winner of a raffle prize for the @heartland_yarn_adventure

New Boston Fair 2026

A few more scenes of Juried Reenactment in Regency Era (England) & Colonial life in the Post Revolutionary War period, going through a time of guarded reconciliation with the English Crown.

This particular affair focuses on the Battle of Piqua, a campaign fought during so-called French & Indians War - aka. War of 1812 - to give perspective, it would also have been a close timeline with many of Jane Austen's popular works.

Modern day Event is staged upon lands that were part of the aforementioned battle.

Village Merchants did a brisk bit of Market, top of the morning. By mid afternoon I occasioned to ask several young squires how their feet were holding up in the Cobbler's handiwork.
I was rewarded with a big smile. (Wise parents to wait until their feet had stopped growing. Custom Cobbler Wear takes a considerable bite out of one's Purse.)

I was unable to secure a pair that fit my wonky feet. Sadly the other merchant who's wares I'd fitted into with minimum fuss before, hadn't journeyed forth this year.

But I got my Hat I'd left on the field last year.

I sat in some shade while my brothers enjoyed some lengthy conversation with the Glass-maker & Blacksmith who introduced me to this show. I'd followed him from a previous festival, in quest of his "antique" writing box. (shown in a previous post.)

Growing up around my Father, I found delight in old Puzzle Boxes. I also grew up writing with old Brass Nibbed Fountain Pens. So finding a treasure box that answered Both, was far too much temptation to ignore.

And my Brother has a Blacksmith hobby to fuel.

Paused for a Kodak moment featuring Lewis & Clark. Devon Red Oxen.

We only caught the aftermath of the Swordsman slewing the melonhead. But he was Victorious.

All of them are Quotes by George Washington. ..

Yeah..
The guy on our One Dollar Bill.
(Not because He is Least Valued. On the Contrary, because He is the Greatest Valued.. Hence He is in the Greatest Circulation.)

BTW.. Those Quotes were Carved into - Not Stone - rather a Gourd. So that Tools you wield Every Day, provide a Daily Reminder of what True Greatness Truly Entails.

Learned a few useful things about FlintLocks and Gunpowder Musketry.

Like there's definitely a wrong place to be, other than the wrong end of the Barrel. It has Two wrong Ends.

So, when they say Flames Shooting Out, they mean it.

And they didn't just collect Honeycomb for Candle Wax. They also gathered abandoned Hornets hanging Hive-Nests for FlintLock Firing chamber Wadding. One good sized nest provided enough gauzey fiber to last Years. by @we3totea

New Boston Fair 2026

It's a wrap. Perfect weather. Delicious Food. Good company. Interesting conversations.

I was sifting back through old photos and posts from previous years.
(Discussion with my brothers about how we started visiting this event... In short, I was following a Stationery Box... Yep. That... ✒️..)

Made this Fascinating Discovery...

The First Nations Gourd Carver had this Jar.. Canister.. Storage container that I absolutely Loved. (But lacked adequate coins to make it mine.) Looking at my photos, it registered that Lake Ontario was featured on the Lid, with the rest of the 5 Great Lakes & Saint Laurence River & Seaway etched around the sides.

ETA: Update about the Gourds artisan vendor, Perry Riley Jr., who grows all of his gourds on his family's 160 acre farmstead & Restored Log home in Illinois. Online search shows a nonexistent website - (they do take a Lot of work to maintain) & a possible TikTok account - (which, not being a TikTok-er myself, I cannot verify) - However, he is a listed vendor at a number of Juried Fairs & events throughout the Midwest region. He is well-reviewed at each event. So that is likely the best option for seeing and purchasing his work.

Happily, this year I was finally able to get my Hat. It's marked as a Black straw weave but in certain lighting those Blue tones do shine through. Collected a few more Hat pins to secure it on top of my head.
