Episode SIX of We're Dancing!....... brings you local dance community news, some personal ponderings, historical unearthings and a call out for your Grandma (maybe)

Know anyone who was paid to dance in the Sheffield clubs in the 60's and 70's? (The Penny Farthing club being a particular interest)..... I'd love to interview them for a future show.

Pictured:
1. Molly Dexter from Sheffield performing at the Lido in Paris (1957) with the famous showgirl troupe The Bluebell Girls (NOT Go-Go)
2. Betty Nixon, Avril Cochrane, Christine Hague in a Go-Go dance competition at the Penny Farthing in 1970 (NOT paid) by @we_re_dancing

We're Dancing in the August episode with Sheffield based choreographer, community dance facilitator, performer and massage therapist @georgiamay.___

We talk about Georgia's less typical path to contemporary dance, their love of teaching and the ideal environment for movement practitioners to connect and develop their practice
(plus all the usual We're Dancing nerdery and local dance community news).

Georgia has selected tunes that include popular rave classics and filmic scored poetry from their personal and professional playlists.

Tune in to @kitchen.radio.sheff this Saturday at 4pm via the website to listen.

Image description: a person with short brown hair is front and centre of the image. They are stooped forwards and low with head raised up. They move on a large wooden floor with feet bare infront of an empty stage with red velvet curtains closed. There is a disco ball and little gold lights suspended from the ceiling. The person wears bright orange flared trousers, a loose light orange shirt and black waistcoat with gold brocade patterns. by @we_re_dancing
