Two cars.Two completely different philosophies.

But somehow, both hide a 5.2-liter engine under the hood. The Audi R8 uses a naturally aspirated V10 producing around 562 horsepower.

The Ford Mustang Mach 1 uses a naturally aspirated 5.2-liter V8 making around 480 horsepower. But the biggest difference isn't actually the engine.

Look at the brakes. The R8 Performance can be equipped with massive 380 mm carbon-ceramic front discs and six-piston calipers—hardware designed to repeatedly handle extreme braking forces.

The Mach 1 uses steel brakes with a much more conventional setup, although Ford still upgraded the car significantly compared with a standard Mustang GT.And then there's the price.

The R8 sits in an entirely different financial universe, costing several times more than a Mach 1 depending on specification and market.

Yet the Mustang delivers an incredible amount of performance for the money.

Ford positioned the Mach 1 between the Mustang GT and Shelby GT500, adding upgraded aerodynamics, cooling, suspension hardware, and track-focused components straight from the factory.

So what's the real difference? The Audi is precision engineering wrapped around a screaming V10.

The Mustang is raw American performance engineered to deliver maximum excitement without the supercar price.Same displacement.

Completely different characters. One shows you what money can buy.The other shows you how far engineering can stretch a dollar.

They sell this exact chassis as a dump truck.

This is a 2008 Ford F-650—a Class 6 commercial truck transformed into a massive personal pickup.

Under the hood is a 6.7-liter Cummins turbo-diesel, the kind of engine associated with heavy-duty pickup trucks.

But the rest of this thing is pure commercial hardware. It rides on 22.5-inch wheels wearing genuine truck tires.

There are polished aluminum fuel tanks mounted along the frame, an air-ride rear suspension, and enough equipment to remind you that this started life as a work truck. Then you open the doors.

Inside, the commercial cabin has been transformed with leather and Alcantara, while train horns make sure nobody misses this truck coming down the road.

And it has around 87,000 miles—which is relatively low for a chassis designed to spend its life working. The wild part?

This isn't a custom-built monster from scratch.It's essentially a commercial-duty truck chassis turned into a personal pickup.

Depending on the build, trucks like these can command six-figure prices, with heavily customized examples reaching far higher.

A dump-truck platform.A luxury interior.Massive commercial tires. And a truck that looks like it belongs on a construction site...

But is being sold as a personal vehicle. This isn't a pickup that was built big. It's a work truck that was turned into a pickup.

Nobody who bid in 1998 walked away with all of Rolls-Royce.

When Vickers put Rolls-Royce Motors up for sale in 1998, Volkswagen outbid BMW with a reported £430 million.

Volkswagen got the physical business—including the Crewe factory, designs, Spirit of Ecstasy mascot, and the distinctive grille shape.

But there was a problem. The Rolls-Royce name and trademark logo weren't part of what Vickers could simply sell.

Those rights belonged to Rolls-Royce plc, the separate aerospace company.

BMW then secured the rights to use the Rolls-Royce name and badge through an agreement reportedly worth around £40 million.

So Volkswagen had the factory...But BMW had the name. And that created one of the strangest corporate battles in automotive history.

Volkswagen could build the cars, but it couldn't sell them under the Rolls-Royce brand.

From 1 January 2003, BMW took control of Rolls-Royce Motor Cars and began producing the cars at its new home in Goodwood.

Meanwhile, Volkswagen retained Bentley, while the Rolls-Royce automotive brand went to BMW.

Two companies. One legendary name. And a deal where the most valuable part wasn't necessarily the factory or the machinery.

It was the name on the hood.£40 million for the rights to Rolls-Royce. £430 million for almost everything else.

Sometimes, the most expensive thing in a car isn't what's underneath it.It's what the badge says.

Porsche sold all 77 of these cars before a single one was even built. And that's only the beginning.

The body is finished in bare carbon fiber, with no paint hiding the weave. The tires are full racing slicks—completely treadless. The result weighs just 3,042 pounds.

Behind the driver sits a 3.8-liter twin-turbo flat-six derived from the 911 GT2 RS, producing 700 horsepower and 553 lb-ft of torque.

Porsche built exactly 77 examples, each priced at around $817,000.But here's what makes this machine truly bizarre:It wasn't homologated for the road.

Porsche's own specifications list it as non-homologated and non-street-legal.Even its details are borrowed from Porsche's racing history.

The LED lights on the wing endplates came from the 919 Hybrid. The mirrors were taken from the 911 RSR.

And the titanium exhaust tips were inspired by the legendary Porsche 908 from 1968.This wasn't built to be practical. It wasn't built to get license plates.

And despite looking like a full-blown race car...It never entered a race.77 cars built.Zero races entered.Zero road plates issued.

Porsche essentially created a race-bred machine that existed purely to be owned. And somehow, they sold every single one.

After nearly five years of relentless development, a completely custom rotary engine has finally come alive.

David Mazzei spent around 4.5 years developing a one-off 3.3-liter, five-rotor rotary engine for his Formula Five supercar project. And this isn't an ordinary rotary.

Five rotors feed a massive 106 mm turbocharger, with a sequential transmission sending the power straight to the rear wheels.

During an early dyno session, the engine reportedly produced an insane 1,120 horsepower at the wheels on just 12.5 psi of boost. But the numbers are only part of the story.

The combination of five rotors and a huge turbo creates the unmistakable high-revving rotary sound—while pushing a home-built engine far beyond what you'd normally expect from a rotary configuration.

What started as a long-term engineering project has now entered serious high-power testing.

Nearly five years of machining, fabrication, testing, failures, and refinement...All leading to one moment:The engine is alive. And it sounds absolutely insane.

Tokyo turned an entire skyscraper into a Pokémon screen.

For a limited-time show, Pokémon took over the façade of the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building No. 1 in Shinjuku as part of TOKYO Night & Light.

But there wasn't a giant LED screen covering the building.

Instead, powerful projectors mapped animated characters, colors, and environments directly onto the architecture.

The projection surface spans roughly 14,000 square meters, allowing the visuals to stretch across dozens of floors while using the building's windows, columns, and shape as part of the animation.

That creates an incredible illusion. The skyscraper appears to change shape. Its windows become part of the animation. And the entire building suddenly feels alive.

The Pokémon production was a special limited-time program, not a permanent attraction that plays every night.

So if you happened to be walking through Shinjuku while it was running, you could look up...

And see Pokémon projected across an entire government skyscraper. No giant screen.

No physical transformation.Just incredibly precise projection mapping turning ordinary architecture into a massive animated canvas.

Sometimes the most impressive screen...Isn't a screen at all.

Porsche sold all 77 of these cars...Before a single one was even built.

This is the Porsche 911 GT2 RS-based 911 GT2 RS Clubsport 2018, an extreme track-only machine created without the compromises of a road car.

The body uses exposed carbon fiber with no conventional paint covering it.The tires are racing slicks.

And the car weighs just 3,042 pounds while producing 700 horsepower from a 3.8-liter twin-turbo flat-six derived from the 911 GT2 RS.But here's the wildest part.

Porsche produced exactly 77 examples, priced at roughly $817,000 each, and every one was sold.Yet these cars weren't built for the road.

Porsche's specifications identify the car as non-homologated and non-street-legal.The details are basically a greatest-hits collection of Porsche racing history.

The LED lights integrated into the wing endplates were inspired by the 919 Hybrid. The mirrors came from the 911 RSR.

And the titanium exhaust tips were inspired by the legendary Porsche 908 from 1968.But despite looking like something designed to dominate a racing grid...

These 77 cars weren't entered into a racing championship. No road plates. No street driving.

Just 77 incredibly expensive track machines, built for customers who wanted something far closer to a race car than a road car.

77 built.77 sold.Zero road plates.A Porsche that was never meant to belong on the road.

This $500,000 TV doesn't just turn on.It transforms.

Created by Bugatti and luxury display company C SEED, the N1 is designed to look like a piece of modern sculpture when it's switched off.

Then the transformation begins.

Five individual MicroLED panels mechanically unfold from the base, rotate into position, and align to create a massive 137-inch 4K display.

Once fully deployed, the engineering is designed to make the seams between the panels almost disappear, giving the impression of one enormous screen.

And it doesn't have to face just one direction.

The entire display can rotate by up to 180 degrees, allowing it to point toward different areas of the room. When the movie is over, everything reverses.

The panels fold back down. The enormous screen disappears. And what remains looks more like a futuristic sculpture than a television.

The design takes inspiration from Bugatti's hypercars, turning a device that would normally be an enormous black rectangle into a mechanical centerpiece.

The reported price?Around $500,000 for the 137-inch model.

At that price, you're not really buying a TV.You're buying a piece of mechanical theater...That happens to play movies.

Every sound you've ever heard came with a direction. This room is designed to take that away.

Your brain locates sound by comparing tiny differences in the time a sound reaches each ear—differences so small they can be measured in microseconds.

Normally, reflections from walls give your brain additional clues about where a sound originated. But this room is built to destroy those clues.

Glass reflects most of the acoustic energy that strikes it, while hundreds of angled surfaces scatter reflections in different directions. Instead of receiving one clear reflection, your ears receive a chaotic mixture of delayed sounds.

The result?Your brain struggles to assign the sound a location.

It can feel less like you're hearing music from a speaker...And more like the sound is happening inside your head. The instruments add another layer.

A handpan's tuned metal surfaces can produce multiple harmonics simultaneously, while quartz crystal bowls can sustain remarkably pure tones for long periods.

Every reflection, resonance, and tiny timing difference becomes part of the experience. Two ears.Microsecond timing.Hundreds of reflections.

And an entire room engineered to confuse the way your brain understands sound.Sometimes the strangest place to hear music...Is inside your own head.

A ketchup heir designed this car from scratch...And only one was ever built.

Rust Heinz, heir to the Heinz fortune, sketched the design himself without copying an existing car. His family refused to finance the project, so his aunt ultimately paid for the build.

The sketches were taken to Bohman & Schwartz in Pasadena, where coachbuilder Maurice Schwartz hand-shaped the aluminum body panels over a welded steel-tube frame.

The result looked like something from another century.

All four wheels were enclosed within the bodywork, forcing the car to become unusually wide. It stood just 57 inches tall, yet four people could sit side-by-side across the front bench. There were no conventional door handles.

Instead, electric push buttons opened the doors, while roof flaps lifted to make getting inside easier.Even the dashboard was unusual, featuring both a compass and an altimeter. The price was equally extraordinary.

About $24,000 in 1938—equivalent to well over half a million dollars today. But the story gets darker.Rust Heinz was killed in a car crash in 1939, at just 24 years old.

His strange creation survived him.One designer. One vision. One automobile. And nearly nine decades later...Still no second copy.

Mercedes built this car in 2018...Then locked it away.

The Vision EQ Silver Arrow is a futuristic electric concept inspired by Mercedes' legendary 1938 record-setting Silver Arrow.

A single-seat machine.738 horsepower.An 80 kWh battery.Nearly 17 feet of sculpted bodywork.

And a claimed range of around 250 miles. But the strangest detail isn't the performance. It's the sound.

Inside the cockpit, the driver can choose what the car sounds like—either the voice of a modern Formula 1 Silver Arrow or the roar of a classic V8.

Think about that. The drivetrain is almost completely silent...But the driver can make it sound like one of the loudest machines in motorsport.

The car itself exists as a physical one-off show car, while footage showing it driving is digitally rendered.

It's a perfect contradiction.A futuristic EV inspired by a record car from the past.

Electric power wearing the voice of combustion.A silent machine...With a Formula 1 voice.

This SUV doesn't just reduce road noise. It fights it with sound.

Four microphones mounted outside the vehicle constantly capture unwanted road and tire noise. Inside, 35 speakers reproduce precisely controlled sound waves designed to cancel those unwanted frequencies through active noise cancellation.

But the technology is only part of the experience. The door handles remain flush with the body until you approach.

Inside, red leather stretches across the cabin, while a wood veneer panel can slide over the front console, hiding the cupholders and creating a cleaner, more minimalist interior.

A panoramic glass roof covers both rows.A curved 13.1-inch display appears to float above the dashboard, while key driving information can be projected directly onto the windshield. And then there's the second row.

Two screens fold out from the front seatbacks, while a third display rises from the center armrest.

The entire cabin feels like it was designed around one idea:The passengers in the back are the VIPs.

It's not just an SUV with a luxury interior. It's essentially a private lounge that happens to move.
