I am grateful for the love and support shown to me and my family following the passing of my beloved mother.

Your physical presence during the final rites, generosity, and prayers provided strength during this difficult moment.

Special thanks to my boss, His Excellency Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, my colleagues, friends, and everyone who reached out with words of comfort. While we continue to navigate the painful reality of her absence, we find deep solace in the solidarity and enduring kindness you have shown our family . It is with a deep sense of loss that I announce the demise of my dear mother (grandmother, sister, and aunty), Mrs Keturah Ominabo (nee Obua) at the age of 71.
She was my teacher, role model, anchor, and a pillar who stood and served as a refuge of hope and strength to the Ominabo and Obua families.

Her death leaves us broken and pained in ways that words cannot convey. I am consoled by the scripture that as a believer, “To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.”
This is my consolation and hope for a phenomenal mother.

It was a pleasure to join scholars from across the globe at the 2026 War, Medicine, and Resistance Conference in Helsinki, Finland to discuss the future of conflict policy.

My presentation focused on the “Somatic Frontline,” detailing how conflict in Nigeria has moved into the home, manifesting as bodily trauma and the systematic wearing down of women’s health and labour ; a process of gendered attrition.

I challenged policymakers and stakeholders on the urgent need for a shift toward more inclusive security frameworks. It is time to look beyond traditional territorial maps and actively protect the domestic spaces and healthcare of those at the heart of our communities.

At the Association of Retired Career Ambassadors of Nigeria (ARCAN) award ceremony in Abuja today, I watched H.E. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan present honours to General Yakubu Gowon and the representative of the late President Gnassingbé Eyadéma. It was a striking reminder that the founders of ECOWAS were young men who had the courage to lead, unite a continent in search of economic growth and development.

With West Africa currently facing new crises, the lesson for our generation is clear: leadership and service are not defined by age, but by a sense of responsibility. We must learn from these custodians of diplomacy to ensure that our shared prosperity and regional stability are preserved for the future.
