Fulton County is investing in the next generation of writers. With a $25,000 county grant, “Write Now” is giving children ages 8-18 a free space to sharpen their writing, explore different forms of storytelling and learn from professional creatives. At the end of the two-month program, each participant will create a written work that will be published in a group anthology. For program creator Tamika Jamison, the work is also about helping young people find their voices and giving them a safe space to express themselves. “It’s now more important than ever that we start putting down our experiences.” Read more about “Write Now” and the young writers finding their voices at the link in bio. 🖋️ : Elijah Megginson / AJC 📸 : Courtesy of Delphine Legacy Media by @weareaambc_

Every young person has a story worth telling, sometimes, they simply need a safe space, the right tools, and someone who believes their words matter. I had the honor of hosting the “Own Your Story. Polish Your Words.” writing workshop for the AAMBC Write Now Series, and these young writers truly impressed me. We wrote, reflected, asked questions, practiced creating author bios, edited one another’s work, and explored what makes each of their voices unique. My favorite part was listening as they courageously shared their stories and began recognizing the greatness already inside of them. This was more than a writing workshop. It was a room filled with imagination, confidence, connection, and future authors discovering the power of their own voices. Their stories matter. Their voices matter. And I cannot wait to see what they write next. Thank you @weareaambc_ for having me. 📸 @mrdillingham by @weareaambc_

From an online book club in 2008 to a national touring festival premiering films in 2026 — this is the road to Dear Black Writers. 📖✨ We started as readers and writers finding each other online, just wanting a space to talk about Black books. Nearly two decades later, we’ve built a home in Atlanta, opened doors for creatives across the country, and we’re not done yet. Swipe through our journey — and tell us where we should go next. 👇 #DearBlackWriters #AAMBC #BlackWritersWeekend #RoadToDearBlackWriters by @weareaambc_
