When was the last time you stopped, took a breath, and gave yourself a moment?

It’s Stress Awareness Week, a good opportunity to check in with ourselves and think about the small things that help us feel better.

Stress doesn’t always arrive all at once. Sometimes it’s the build-up of busy days, too many demands, and not quite enough time to stop and catch our breath.

A walk around the block, a few minutes in the garden, or simply taking a moment outside can all make a difference. Because natural health isn’t a luxury, and looking after ourselves shouldn’t feel like another thing on the to-do list.

At Common Nature, we believe everyone should have the opportunity to experience the benefits of nature, wherever they live and work.

A little nature can go a long way. 🌿

Have you noticed that mornings are feeling a bit chillier than just a couple of weeks ago?

Autumn doesn’t arrive all at once. It changes a shade at a time, and there’s a quiet invitation in that: to move with the season instead of bracing against it.

Our facilitators @daisyhughees @zoedvl and @mistercollieman have been trading the things they love most about it. The trees changing colours. The air cool enough for a jacket. A cosy blanket over your knees. A pot of something warm on the stove.

Simple comforts that have a way of feeling perfect for the season.

So tell us. What’s the first thing that lets you know the season has turned where you are?

Nine in ten UK adults say they hit high or extreme stress at some point last year. Most of it doesn’t arrive as a crisis. It builds quietly across a working week, in the back-to-back calls and the inbox that never empties.

While you can’t always change the day, you can change how your body meets it.

A 2025 randomised trial in JAMA Network Open found that a short, regular meditation practice measurably lowered stress in employees. And the research on breathing points somewhere freeing: the benefit seems to come less from any perfect technique and more from the simple act of stopping to breathe with intention. A few minutes is enough.

No retreat, no hour blocked out. Just a pause you can take at your desk, between the things that need you.

So before the afternoon starts pulling, take a moment and let our our facilitator Anabel guide you through a simple exercise to slow down your breath.

A season of mornings in the park. 🍂

As our last morning of the season comes to a close, we’re feeling grateful for this little community, for the time spent together, and for the chance to begin the day connected to nature.

The leaves are turning, the light is changing, and with the clocks going back, the days are getting shorter.

It’s easy to feel the shift towards winter as a reason to retreat indoors. But perhaps these are the moments when we need nature most. A little fresh air, a change of perspective, a moment to pause.

Thank you to everyone who joined us in the park this season. Here’s to staying connected to nature, and to one another, as the seasons change. 🌿

First Dip of Winter 🌊❄️

Two London cold water communities, one Sunday morning.

On 1 November, @icebreakers.northlondon and @chilly.dippers are teaming up to welcome in the colder months together, and it also happens to be IceBreakers North London’s third birthday, so there’ll be cake 🎂

We’ll start with some movement and breathwork to warm up, get in the water together, and then gather for coffee and conversation. Whether you’ve been dipping for years or have never been in, there’s a place for you. Getting in is entirely optional; turning up is the main thing.

Hosted by @livsharron and @simon_j_lamb

📍 Parliament Hill Fields Lido
🗓 Sunday 1 November, 11:00

Book via the link in bio. Bring a towel, bring a friend, bring a Halloween hangover 👻👋

We’re surrounded by people, but are we feeling connected?

Loneliness can be hard to talk about, and it’s not always obvious who’s experiencing it. The latest figures for England show that 7% of adults feel lonely often or always.

At Common Nature, we believe spending time outdoors with other people can be a good place to start. Our walks, workshops, and shared experiences give people a chance to meet, take part, and feel more connected to the places they live.

Because community doesn’t just happen. We have to make space for it.

🌱 Natural health for all.

Here’s why he believes in Common Nature. 💚 by @wearecommonnature

Last Sunday, Simon, Pete, and the crew came together for a day of getting creative, moving, and connecting with nature. Muddy hands, good company, and plenty of moments worth replaying.

More of this, please. 💚
