On Saturday, September 12, Dunbar showed out for the Down Syndrome Association of Central Kentucky (DSACK) Walk! Senior Will Merritt recruited an impressive 96 people to his team, "Will Power." The group included Dunbar staff members, the baseball team, and the Heart Club, whose members volunteered by painting faces and supervising the inflatables. For bringing together the largest team, Will will be featured on a billboard this September! It was an incredible day of fun and advocacy. On September 16th, Paul Laurence Dunbar High School hosted a first-of-its-kind Blind College Fair, bringing together 39 colleges from across the nation and 300+ seniors for an unforgettable afternoon of discovery. Instead of choosing schools based on brand names, banners, or swag, students spent the first 90 minutes visiting numbered tables matched entirely to their pre-surveyed goals, academic interests, and ideal campus culture. Representatives engaged with students based on substance alone—proving that the best fit isn't always the name you already know. The energy during the "Big Reveal" was unmatched as reps unveiled their true identities, kicking off an exciting mingle session packed with newfound matches, college gear, and fresh possibilities. What an incredible Passmore Classic! A little rain cut the game at halftime, but our Bulldogs still brought home the win! More than just a game, the Passmore Classic honors the legacy of legendary coach Norman Passmore and the original Dunbar High School Bearcats (1923–1967)—which is why our team proudly wears green each year. This evening was extra special as we honored two pillars of our community: Dennis Vinegar (Class of ‘68), a proud original Bearcat who helped shape our tradition of excellence. Steve Duerson, recognized by the Alumni Association for his years of dedication to connecting Bearcat alumni with today’s Bulldogs.
