He made it! 🚴‍♂️🇳🇱

After cycling all the way from Northumberland, Barry has finally arrived at the RAI ready for IBC. A lot of miles, a ferry crossing, plenty of luggage and somehow he’s still smiling. 💪 For most of us this would be more than enough of a challenge, but Barry says it was pretty easy!

So, if you’re at IBC over the next few days and want to talk EVS, cameras, lenses, upcoming rental projects, complex workflows or even cycling, keep an eye out for him around Halls 8 to 12 or give us a call and arrange a meeting.

Well done Barry! 👏

Next stop Holland…!🇳🇱🚴‍♂️

Barry’s now officially leaving the shores of the UK behind.

After a full day on the bike, he’s swapped two wheels for the ferry to Holland. Sadly, pedalling across the water wasn’t an option, otherwise he probably would have tried it! 😁 At least it gives him one part of the journey where he can put his feet up without feeling guilty.

Tomorrow it’s back on the bike for the final push towards Amsterdam, aiming to reach the RAI on Thursday evening ready for IBC.

His message from the ferry was simple:
“Leaving the shores of the UK… Holland here I come!” 🇳🇱

Safe crossing Barry. Amsterdam’s getting closer! 🚴‍♂️ by @weareframeworks

Barry’s IBC commute is officially underway… 🚴‍♂️

First update and he’s made it to Newcastle Quayside, stopping on the Gateshead Millennium Bridge before carrying on south.

There’s still a fairly considerable amount of road between Newcastle and Amsterdam, but so far the bike, the luggage and, most importantly, Barry all appear to be holding together 💪

For anyone who missed our earlier post, he’s cycling all the way from Northumberland to Amsterdam for IBC, aiming to reach the RAI on Thursday evening.

We’ll keep the updates coming as he makes his way across.

Keep going Barry! 🚴‍♂️🇳🇱 by @weareframeworks

IBC the hard way… 🚴‍♂️

It’s nearly IBC, which means serious meetings, packed diaries, early nights and maybe the occasional drink...

Or something like that. 😁

Barry has decided to make getting there slightly more interesting this year. He’s leaving his home in Northumberland today and cycling all the way to Amsterdam, arriving at the RAI on Thursday evening.

With planned transport disruption this week, he may actually have chosen the most reliable option.

He’ll be at IBC from Friday through to Monday morning, mainly around Halls 8-12. Hall 11 is probably your best bet if you’re trying to track him down.

Want to talk EVS, cameras, lenses, short-term or long-term rental or just grab a drink? Find Barry while he’s there.

And yes, we did try to come up with a clever bike frame / FrameWorks line... 🤣
Good luck Barry. See you in Amsterdam! 🚴‍♂️🍺

Premiere Pro in Sardinia... not a bad edit location 😉

Back in May, we supplied multiple full Adobe Premiere Pro edit suites built around Mac Studios for the Louis Vuitton 38th America’s Cup Preliminary Regatta in Cagliari.

The racing was fairly spectacular, with the AC40 foiling yachts capable of more than 40 knots and Luna Rossa eventually taking the win.

Mac Studios are a really useful option for jobs like this. Plenty of performance in a small box, easy to travel with and, once you’ve added the right I/O, monitoring and storage, they make a very capable location edit setup.

We’ve definitely sent edit suites to less glamorous places. 😂

A very well deserved promotion for Mike

Mike has officially stepped up to become our new Rental Manager.

He’s been part of our team for over five years, originally starting in engineering before moving into a Client Manager role. Along the way he’s built up a really strong understanding of post-production and live editorial workflows, and more recently has been working across everything from Avid and EVS through to cameras, lenses and the wider rental operation.

So this one feels like a pretty natural next step.

Mike knows the kit, knows our customers and genuinely cares about getting things right, which is exactly what we want from the person leading our rental team.

Liam, our Co-Founder, probably put it best:
“Mike’s earned this. Simple as that.”

Congratulations Mike. Very well deserved. by @weareframeworks

EVS XT-VIA at the FA Cup Final

Another trip to Wembley for some of our EVS kit.

For BBC Sport’s coverage of the FA Cup Final, we supplied multiple EVS XT-VIA 12-channel systems for the replay workflow.

Chelsea v Manchester City finished 1-0, but as anyone in replay knows, a low score certainly doesn’t mean a quiet afternoon. Goals, offsides, tackles, near misses... there’s normally plenty that needs another look.

That’s exactly the sort of job XT-VIA is at home on. Plenty of channels, plenty happening at once, and a workflow operators already know inside out.

Need EVS for an upcoming production? We supply everything from single-system dry hire to larger multi-server workflows, with engineering and support when you need it.

Post houses & Post Supervisors... could Avid 2026.8 make your next project more expensive?

If you use third-party shared storage for shared projects, bin sharing and bin locking, the latest Avid change is worth knowing about.

From Media Composer 2026.8, the unsupported route used by third-party "cheaper" storage to emulate NEXIS for those workflows will no longer work. If you want to stay on third-party storage and move to the latest Media Composer, Avid’s supported route is Media Composer Enterprise.

For your next drama, feature or multi-editor project, that could mean another cost appearing in the budget.

Before you add Enterprise, talk to us.

We’re putting together very special rental pricing on genuine Avid NEXIS around the change. And if you’re a post house switching from third-party shared storage to a long-term NEXIS rental with us, we’ll move all of your existing media across for FREE.

Genuine NEXIS. Proper shared projects and bin locking. 24/7 support.

Sony BRC-AM7s & EVS at the eChampionship League

For the eChampionship League at Dock10, we supplied Sony BRC-AM7 PTZ and HDC-P50 cameras, alongside EVS XT-VIA 12-channel systems.

We stock both the Sony BRC-AM7 and Panasonic UE150, and while the Panasonics are still very good cameras, we’re definitely seeing the Sonys being picked more often now. The autofocus is excellent, the movement is quick and quiet, you’ve got variable ND and the auto-framing is getting increasingly clever. We’d still give the UE150 the nod in very low light, but outside of that the AM7 is becoming pretty difficult to argue against.

We’ll come back to this properly because AM7 vs UE150 definitely deserves its own comparison. 😉

As the sun goes down, the workshop lights come on...

Another busy afternoon in engineering, with kit coming back in from one job and plenty more being checked, configured and packed ready for the next.

This rather seductive line-up is all Canon HJ40s in the usual Peli cases. Very popular for jobs where you need a lot of reach but still want something that can stay relatively mobile.

With a 40x zoom from 10-400mm, or 20-800mm with the built-in 2x extender, they’re great for things like sport, natural history, factual and location work where you need to get a long way into the action without moving the camera halfway across the field.

They’re always out on all sorts of different productions, which probably says more about them than we could. Give us a call if you need some for your next project.

A few more checks and this lot will be packed up and heading out.

Sony at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show

Gardens, flowers, awards… and apparently quite a bit of Sony kit too.

For this year’s show we supplied monitors including LMD-A240's and, separately, camcorders including PXW-Z450's supporting not one but two different productions.

Both are the sort of kit we all know well and can just get on with using, which is probably why they keep turning up on such a wide range of jobs.

One week it’s the NBA Playoffs, the next it’s Chelsea Flower Show. That’s broadcast rental for you. 😂 🙌

Meet Jason, our newest and youngest member of the team!

Jason joined us at the end of May as a Prep Engineer and has already got properly stuck in, including heading out to support Wimbledon within his first couple of months.

He came to us wanting more hands-on technical experience, and what’s been really nice to see is how keen he is to understand how everything actually works.

Whether it’s testing Avid systems or learning more about EVS XT-VIA and ACCESS, he asks questions and wants to get his head around it properly.

We asked him for his most important rule when prepping equipment: “Double check everything.” Hard to argue with that.

He’s particularly keen to move further into video engineering, and we’re looking forward to seeing where he takes it.

Welcome to the team, Jason! by @weareframeworks
