GRACIE ABRAMS announces her third studio album ‘Daughter From Hell’ out 17th July via @interscope

@gracieabrams shared primary single “Hit The Wall” earlier this month with a lead up of teasing hints on socials. “It’s the introduction to this new chapter, and I feel grateful and relieved that this is the introduction. I love the song so much and I love the people I made it with. It feels embodied and that feels good. I’m excited for it to belong to everyone else.”

Want to perform on the @boardmasters main stage?

Applications are now open for the festivals’ ‘Breaking’ competition offering emerging artists from the South West a chance to perform on the Festival’s main stage.

Open to vocalists, bands, DJs and artists of any genre or age, the initiative is designed to spotlight regional talent and provide a genuine platform at one of Cornwall’s most significant cultural events. Entrants must be from, or based in, the South West.

The winner will receive an opening slot on the Main Stage on Sunday 9th August, full weekend festival access with a +1 per performer, access to the Artist Area on Sunday, professionally shot content from their performance, a dedicated feature on @clunkmagazine Instagram, and a dedicated announcement across Boardmasters’ social channels.

All applications will be reviewed and shortlisted by the Boardmasters team, with the final winner selected by @bbcintroducing and revealed on Monday 25th May.

The new stuff is a labour of love. They have chosen not to reimagine themselves, no glow up, no new image, with all effort concentrated on songwriting with depth instead. An honourable decision for a band seeking longevity and respect in an industry as fickle as this one.

“I think as time has gone by, our albums have become more and more open - and as such, the songs on Selling A Vibe feel very personal. So it can be nerve-wracking releasing them because they matter so much to us. I know that may sound overly romantic or idealistic, but ultimately, it’s the only thing that matters when all is said and done. Did we connect with people? We don’t want this to be seen as an “indie rock” record or a “punk” record or whatever - all those things that used to seem to matter to us - our only hope is that people enjoy and connect with the songs and lyrics for what they are. We want them to be for everyone, really. And as such, I suppose you could say that makes it our most ambitious album, as we have fully given ourselves over to that. In short, we sincerely hope you enjoy it.”

“If the slightly possessed is more your bag, Venus Grrrls were the ones that night. On our radar for some time, alt-punk goddesses and fodder for fans of 1996’s Nancy Downs, the band released single ‘3x3’ (via @killabop.ig Records) earlier this year to rave reviews.

Goth-grunge with an ethereal twist, lead singer GK’s voice has a delicate yet bold quality to it. Brash, frantic and distinctly psychotic, there’s a dark side to the five-piece but one with which they have full and unfaltering control—commanding synth motifs, powerful riffs, and their familiar witchy aesthetic, the highlights of the evening.“
