She moved to Halifax knowing almost nobody, and now leads a music community that includes people from Chile, Iran, Japan, India and beyond.

This week on 6Qs with Christine, musician Macarena Carreño talks about the moment Halifax finally started to feel like home, and what she’d tell the 15 year old version of herself who was just starting to play guitar.

We talked about the mom who taught her she was always enough, letting listeners find their own meaning in a song, and why she compares music production to building a Swiss watch.

Tag a friend who needs to read this one, and check the link in bio for the full conversation.

Thank you for the fantastic introduction @mooniiband

💿 “BIRTHDAY” LIVE SESSION — THIS SATURDAY ON YOUTUBE!

📅 Saturday, October 17 at 12 PM (Halifax time)

💜 Subscribe to our YouTube channel so you don’t miss it! Link in bio!

Our studio recordings have lots of effects and layers (which we LOVE!), but this time we wanted to try something different: a stripped-down version of “Birthday” to show you what the song sounds like without all those extra elements.

We recorded it on a warm, cloudy day near Porters Lake, working with Modern Philharmonic @modern.philharmonic and Downbeat Media @downbeatmedia to bring this session to life.

A huge thank you to Bev for letting us use this beautiful space! The lake was gorgeous, the atmosphere was magical, and the mosquitoes were absolutely WILD after sunset. 🦟😂

Can’t wait to share this little piece of that day with you! 💜 taken in Halifax, Nova Scotia by @wearemueres
