@alfredoarribas @vinsnus Alfredo Arribas:Priorat, Reimagined. Before making wine, Alfredo Arribas was an architect in Barcelona. That architectural mindset still shapes his work today—not just in the cellar, but across the landscape itself. In 2001, he produced his first vintage from Clos del Portal, an estate he built from scratch in the rugged southern reaches of the Priorat region. While Priorat is a region that is often recognized for the intensity of its wines, Alfredo saw potential beyond power. His mission from the start has been to prove that Priorat can be fresh, lifted, and vibrant, not just dense and heavy. To push his vision further, Alfredo expanded into neighboring Montsant, where the organic- and biodynamically-farmed vineyards climb to nearly 700 meters in elevation. This kind of elevation bring cooler temperatures, allowing for more acid and brightness in the fruit that grows there. Across roughly 200 acres in Priorat and Montsant, his vineyards are focused around cooler, well-ventilated slopes and sites with less direct sun exposure. The result? Wines that carry the unmistakable soul of Priorat, but framed with brightness & finesse. Rather than masking Priorat’s natural strength, Alfredo’s goal is to refine it. In the cellar, he works with a philosophy he describes as “more absences than additions.” He doesn’t add any artificial ingredients to the wines. He allows the fermentation to occur with yeasts that naturally grow on the grapes. He adds little, if any, sulfur to the wine. And he ferments only in vessels that do not impart any flavors to the wine. Across his projects, Alfredo explores different expressions of Garnacha and Mediterranean varieties, each shaped by elevation, farming, and vessel choice. His Vins Nus (or “Naked Wines”) project is defined by restraint—wines shaped as much by what’s left out as by what’s included. They’re vivid, transparent, and quietly powerful. The SiurAlta (or “High Altitude”) series is a subset of the Vins Nus family, with wines that capture the essence of mountain-grown fruit: lifted aromatics, vivid acidity, and remarkable aging potential.
