Bruises (2026)

Bruises sits within a wider reflection on Black interiority and mental health. Loré is fluent in everyone’s pain but her own. In her therapist’s office, she narrates other people’s trauma with ease, yet when the conversation circles back to her, silence sets in. Kityo, who also plays Loré, lets that silence remain until it breaks.

Eyimofe (This Is My Desire) (2020)

With Clarissa (2026) marking their latest feature, this is a look back at Eyimofe, the film that introduced the Esiri twins’ filmmaking practice.

Lagos holds two people at once: Mofe, an electrician absorbing a family tragedy while scraping together what he needs to leave, and Rosa, a hairdresser navigating a system designed to exhaust her before she gets anywhere.

The Esiri twins don’t connect their stories in the way you’d expect. Instead, they allow each one to breathe on its own. There are two chapters, two desires, and one city that makes leaving feel like the only logical conclusion. Shot on 16mm across 48 locations in Lagos, the film captures the city in full: its vibrancy, relentless pressures, and slow devastation.

Available on the Criterion Channel.

Is there something you were once terrified of as a child that you find yourself, decades later, walking toward?

A father and son return to Grenada in search of memory and heritage. What begins as a family trip becomes centered around the Jab Jab, the folklore at the heart of Grenadian carnival tradition.

The film moves across two timelines: a young Joshua spending a formative summer with his grandmother on the island, and an adult Joshua retracing that ground with his father years later. Archival footage from the director’s own upbringing weaves the two together, making the personal record part of the cultural one.

The cinematography stays intimate with handheld movements, grain, and natural light. There’s also something honest in how the film touches on a tension many Caribbean people face in balancing faith and culture.

Official trailer out now. Premiering at @danceswithfilms LA - June 23rd.
More screenings to come!
