Future Society - Wandering Rain

#nosevember day2:
Wash
Don’t get me wrong I enjoy a Dove soap bar, some imperial leather or a pumpable liquid soap to scrub my hands but I also enjoy a nice fancy soap that scents the room. My usual go to is the Mysore Sandal Soap, but I’ve been picking up more fancy scented experiences for my future bathroom when I finally get my house renovated. (A thing that’s taking ages cause I’m doing it myself when I’m not working & writing about fumes)

Here’s some that will make it to the fancy guest soap spot & some that will get the pleasure of being rubbed all over my body. Those lucky soaps.

The classic Mysore Sandal Soap run & stamped by the Indian government, I’ve been through lots of these.

@andy_tauer makes some stunning soaps. I’ve already enjoyed Vivid Gardenia which scented the whole bathroom like the flower was blooming. I’m excited for Mandarines Ambrées.

@blackstuffsoap is a local shave company that does many other washing products & perfume. I’ve been loving their deodorants & this was a bonus in an order. The Cure has peppermint & cocoa going on so it’s gonna be cooling & delicious.

@maison.violet.paris Nuée Bleue soap is very elegant & powdery, it’s iris heavy & has that classical French soap feel. I’ve used one of these & it makes your skin feel stunning after.

@andtradition here’s 2 or the 3 soaps that @antoinelieolfactiveexperience created as part of the Mnemonic line. After the Rain & Into the Moor. It’s a scented experience of nature & will probably be the 1st of the fancy guest soaps when I move in. Also tempted to get the liquid soap version of after the rain too.

@marcantoinebarrois also has some soaps I’m eyeing up. I’ve heard great things from @qbarrois by @wearescentient

‘Quarzazate’ @commedesgarconsparfums
#nosevember day1: Begin. bonus
Whilst not this exact perfume, it was Comme Des Garçon perfumes that were my gateway into perfumery wanting more than just to smell nice. Especially @buxton.mark incense usage in their profiles. 2Man was the first but Quarzazate is the most recent one I’ve picked up. Well technically CDG White is on the way from Vinted but I’ve not got it yet. It’s was the beautifully abstract concepts & notes that got me & made me think of perfume as a thing that could hold so much more.

Quarzazate has a beautiful combination of spices feeling both warm & cold that linger under a dark almost scratchy smoke. It’s got the texture of rough cut wood or a heavy linen. There’s softness too, as a counter to the pepper & liquorice. Green tea adds a subtle warmth with sage adding a herbal twist with kisses of sweet berries & vanilla hidden in the smoke. It’s an incense with a touch of mystery hidden in the dark. I’m also a big fan of Kyoto & Avignon from the incense line. by @wearescentient

#nosevember Day:1
Begin.

There’s a couple of early memories of smells, mostly from my parents garden as I was growing up. Climbing through cypress trees, their scent & sticky sap clinging to me. The wet earth when it rained or when I was helping my dad with the plants & veg in the side garden. There was also the green house full of tomatoes & hanging vines, dense thick musky greens. @erisparfums Green Spell captures that magic. But it’s geraniums I’m thinking of today.

Potted geraniums lined 2 of the walls in the little conservatory at the back of the house. Their tree like stems, strangely beautiful patterned leaves & heart shaped petals were the perfect alien jungles for my toys to adventure through. Rich spiced rosey scent permeated the air as the sun shone in. Sharp aromatics & herbal greens with a minty bite giving an intense dangerous surreal green to adventure in. The flowers smelled like aged rose, drier with a tart citrus, like strange suns or alien mouths to attack my toys. Memories like these flood back when I get the flowers aroma. @fredericmalle Geranium Pour Monsieur & Rose & Cuir have a lovely geranium presence within their compositions & is why I really enjoy them.

Geranium is a beginning for me along with all the other plants, flowers & botanicals that made me think about smells that weren’t the “bad” smells or the aroma of Moss Man from He-Man, which in ironically lost in a bush. Thank you to @smell.the.artwork for doing Nosevember again. Image is an old botanical drawing I found from 1887. by @wearescentient

‘Matcha NōNo’ @ricardoramosperfumesdeautor
I’m smelling like a treat today with the delicious Matcha NōNo composed by Ricardo Ramos, Jorge Lee & @tomooinaba_profice_ . This forms a beautiful olfactive conversation that takes place over a cultural exchange as 3 friends share matcha tea, baklava & Nono pastry. Matcha NōNo wears like a happy gathering feeling cosy & dreamy, packed full of delicious & delicate flavours. Just like I’m packed full of sweets from Halloween last night.

Matcha NōNo opens with a mouthwatering pistachio & white chocolate delicately scented with sweet cherry blossom as a soft haze of matcha tea adds a subtle green. Each element feels soft giving you the sensation of biting into pastry as these flavours burst forth. Like all of the best bakers the flavours are well balanced, taking you on a lovely journey.

As things dry down the Nono pastry arrives, its fluffy warm cinnamon & cream evolve from the pistachio & florals. It’s a subtle warm spice making Matcha NōNo feel cosy. More delicate tea flavours arrive with gentle earthy undertones. The hinoki woods make me think this meeting takes place in Japan as its tender blonde woody & tart citruses add a lovely counter point to balance the sweet. It’s a delicious conversation & combination of treats from the world. Beautiful work! Stunning perfume! by @wearescentient

‘Wicked John’ @strangers.parfumerie
Oíche Shamhna shona daoibh | Happy Halloween! Today I’m smelling like @prinlomros vision of John Wick, which captures the elegance & brutality of the character Keanu Reeves plays. I’m not suited & booted like him though but rather dressed in black with my Hausu tee on from @thecinegogueshop . Highly recommend this Japanese horror film from ‘77 if you’re looking for something to watch later.

Wearing Wicked John feels like the films elegant ballet of violence, refined yet wild. Prin Lomros captures the suaveness of John Wick with a classic yet intense lavender fougère composition, contrasted with a sharp metallic blood & gunmetal accord. Wafts of gasoline vapours wrap around a soft rose, with a subtle hay tobacco refinement as leather adds a subtle layer of toughness. It gets its hands dirty too, not animalic but earthy, transforming into soft inky swirls of incense that drift like faded smoke over the leather. Yet the intense lavender fougère facets focus never lets up. It’s constant through line captures the boogieman’s never wavering determination. Darkly beautiful & elegant. by @wearescentient

‘Lord of Misrule’ @lush
Starting in with witchy vibes as we get closer to oiche samhian / halloween. Lord of Misrule is or was a limited release from Lush available each autumn composed by @simonconstantine_ now behind the beautiful @and_fragrance . It’s prefect for this year with its autumnal feel which gives you nature like tricks & reveals sweeter treats. It keeps making me think of Florence & the machine or maybe witchy Taylor Swift, who may or may not be Zeena LaVey reincarnated.

Lord of Misrule’s patchouli summons the magic of autumnal nature giving deep rich earthy aromas full of fallen crushed leaves & twigs. Opening with a black pepper spice it’s has a cola sweetness as it merges with the patchouli. As the spices soften they haunt the air around Lord of Misrule, adding a furry texture making the earthiness cosy as chocolate cake like aromas rise like spectres.

A mist of woody vanilla is where the treat becomes more sweet. It smooths out the patchouli making it feel cool & rich like the night air as you stomp through leaves, while the sparkle of spices adds a shimmer of magic. Lord of Misrule really gives you a beautiful spectrum of patchouli, I think Indonesian. It feels perfect for spooky season. by @wearescentient

‘Night’ @akrofragrances
After a lovely chat with @basic.instink about dirty tuberoses (if you have any suggestions please drop them below) I was in the mood for something dirty & delicious. Night from Akro is a recent purchase & is all kinds of fun. @oliviercresp is no stranger to sexy spices with his iteration of Rochas Femme introducing a cumin spice of bodily warmth to the mix. Night takes the cumin in a different direction with saffron & rose with musks taming the beast. It dances the line of sweaty pleasure in a stunning way, flirting with us, giving the carnal spices of passion between two bodies with a lovely counter point of beauty from the florals.

As the perfume hits your skin a soft stream of saffron & cumin rises up. It purrs with desire in a flirtatious way as its spices give little bites of pleasure to the softer silky textures of the saffron. Things get carnal as the spices rub up against a gentle rose. It’s a wild and sensual combination that’s feels erotic, the cumin’s funk sits right on the edge capturing that fresh clean sweat of ravaged desire.

There’s a subtle Thai oud that adding more to the fleshy feel, it’s adds a warmth that’s cool & smooth with the saffron teasing out more sensuality. As things dry down there’s almost a creamy woody vanillic quality that appears under the spices. There’s bit able quality to it. The florals melt over my skin in a beautiful way feeling like two bodies cooling down warmed with a touch of sweat & whispers of bodily fluids. Night is not full on filthy but carnal & sensual in an alluring way. Very happy to own Night.

Sadly the bottle has gotten a lil excited and leaky so if any one knows any tricks to stop the capillary action lemme know. by @wearescentient

‘Pepperkorn’ @astrophilstellaperfume
I’m in the mood for cosy ambers right now as things get cold. @buxton.mark has composed a beautiful one here with Pepperkorn. It’s got his signature spices & incense facets I’ve loved in his work since 1st diving into perfumes with Comme Des Garçon but Pepperkorn brings in a whole lot more.

Subtle greens seem to flicker with soft spice embers twisting into whispers of incense. Slowly more woody dry spices appear. Some warm, other’s cool. Clove gives a dark depth as a creamy smooth balsamic vanilla amber gives Pepperkorn a lush amber that’s feels luxurious & a lil wild. The rock&roll concept is beautifully captured here with its elective spices and smooth grooves. A wild elegance. You can read a more in depth piece over on @cafleurebonofficial by @wearescentient

‘Ferveur’ @legalionparis
Loving this in the cold weather & back wearing it again today. Dark & powerdry with dry spices & aromatics give it a warm intoxicating feel. Sensual brooding with beautiful shades of leather & florals with a balsamics giving a woody amber for the base. It feels like the most beautiful hug in the cold. ‘Apsu’ @ulrichlang_newyork
After a lot of rain last night & @persolaise recent live with Ulrich & Frank I wanted to that feeling to stay on so Apsu was a must today. Though rather than a cold wintery day it has this lovely feel of summer after the rain with wet greenery alive with freshness. The watery feel is amazing with a soft sensuality of experiencing nature on your skin. @frankvoelkl has composed a stunning green perfume with Apsu.

Apsu feels like walking through a pool of water or standing in the rain as all the plants & herbal aromatic greenery comes alive. Violet leaf give me Apsu a beautiful spacious feel while adding a touch of woods, the greenery is enhanced with some vegetive facets & herbal ones, gives a fresh snap & bitterness that gives Apsu the feeling of being alive.

As the rain stops you feel its drop as a soft powdery & waxy floral texture, there’s a beautiful elegance to Apsu at this point. It’s contrasted beautifully by spices that feel like your hairs standing on end with subtle jasmine facets gives a cool unripe green banana meets watery cucumber aroma. Soft white tea notes merge with the greens while a gentle cedar note brings in a gentle meditative calm. It’s incense smoke drifting through the water, with a whisper of amber char adding a beautiful rough hint to the smooth. A subtle calone facet gives a dry feel pulling out more of the woods as the water leaves your skin, leaving this cool floral woody green musk around you. A stunning fresh green perfume. by @wearescentient

‘Santal Austral Extrait’ @matierepremiereparfums
I needed something comforting today & long lasting, as I knew it would be a long long day. Issues with my cars lights had to be addressed very early this morning as the darkness of winter looms, plus a busy day of work juggling multiple projects & extra paperwork. Thankfully I had the beautiful haze of @aurelienguichard ’s Australian sandalwood around me. It was an over the top 6 sprays for this powerful perfume, but I needed it.

Santal Austral captures all the beautiful facets of Australian sandalwood in a stunning way. It’s got powdery floral touches to enhance the creamy facets of the woods while almond nuances give it a smooth sleek feel. But it’s the beautiful dark smoky black cardamom that gives this extrait the edge. Cardamom’s cool spices are warmed & intensified merging beautifully with the sandalwood while acting as a counterpoint to show off its lighter softer side. Creamy, silky & rich with delicious tonka & benzoin giving a deep woody sweetness. It’s an elegant perfume & leaves me bathed in a sense of calm while wearing it. Beautiful work. ‘Jules 2026’ @diorbeauty
A few guessed right it was Jules that I picked up from the Dioringinals collection. (By picked up I mean bought @fragrance_weirdo 😉) Diorama was close though, it has its classic Roudnitska spiced fruity sexiness reminding me of his Femme for Rochas, but much more elegant with a sparkling opening. Elegant is the feel I got for the few I tested in store. Doirling was another nice mossy leather chypre with elegant florals. Jules though came home with me.

I’ve only smelled the original from some old mini’s, they were dark & dense, the top was gone & descended into a dark spicy pissy green artemisia it that classic 80’s hairy chested medallion & leather jacket deep in the woods club way.

The 2026 Jules is more elegant, it’s still got that hairy chested feel, but feels more elegant. Its artemisia aldehydic feel is still there. Almost Kouros like but less sheer & intense. It’s dialled back with the opening feeling bright, shimmering with aromatics & a carnation like spice. You still get its elegant florals with a soapy counter of cyclamen in the dry down. It’s a nice contrast to the woods & mossy leather. This is just the first wear but I’m getting to know it, but image wise it’s a big hairy chested beast but in a more refined leather jacket still getting down in the woods. There’s a soft smokiness that hides the subtle animalic growl that’s lurking as you get more intimate with it. It’s rather beautifully done, I’m looking forward to getting to know it properly. I’m really happy that Francis Kurkjian has given the classics a great overhaul with all the current restrictions. by @wearescentient
