Flagged off by the Hon’ble President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu, from the courtyard of Rashtrapati Bhavan - this was not just a marathon, this was a moment of national pride. 🇮🇳

The President’s Bodyguard Soldierathon - Delhi 2026 brought together 8,000+ runners, soldiers, veterans, defence families and citizens to honour the courage, sacrifice and service of India’s Armed Forces.

This historic run was held in honour of The President’s Bodyguard, India’s oldest cavalry regiment, the President’s Own and one of the most prestigious regiments of the Indian Armed Forces, carrying a legacy of 253 glorious years of honour, discipline and service to the nation.

The occasion became even more special as the Hon’ble President of India unveiled the Race Special Edition T-shirt, Medal and Cap, along with the first-ever Special Postal Cover release for any marathon, marking a proud milestone in the Soldierathon journey.

The idea of Soldierathon was seeded by the vision of Former President of India, Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, along with Major Dr. Surendra Poonia, VSM, to create a movement where citizens could honour India’s real heroes through fitness. The baton was later carried forward under the guidance of India’s first Chief of Defence Staff and former Army Chief, General Bipin Rawat, and continues today under the patronage of General Dr. V.K. Singh, Hon’ble Governor of Mizoram and former Chief of the Army Staff.

The larger purpose of Soldierathon has always been to support our wounded soldiers, with proceeds going towards the Paraplegic Rehabilitation Centre in Pune and Mohali. From the PBG Soldierathon, the proceeds were dedicated towards the welfare of the troops and horses of The President’s Bodyguard, honouring both the soldiers and the proud equestrian legacy of this historic regiment.

This was more than a race.
It was a salute.
It was a tribute.
It was history in motion.
