Weave CEO Announcement from Chair Nellie Pollard-Wharton, on behalf of the Weave Board.

In my role as Chair and on behalf of the Board of Weave Youth & Community Services, I am writing to announce that after 25 years at Weave, Chief Executive Officer, Siobhan Bryson will retire and step down from her role at the end of this year. This will conclude a remarkable chapter after decades of dedicated service to children, young people, women, families and communities on Gadigal and Bidjigal Lands.

Siobhan started working at Weave in 2001 when it was known as South Sydney Youth Services. Initially working as a Caseworker/Counsellor for 7 years, providing holistic support for Aboriginal young people and their families; Siobhan then moved into the Operations Manager role for 10 years and became CEO in 2018.

This announcement marks the end of a significant career filled with valuable contributions to Weave and the broader sector.

Few people have shaped this sector as profoundly as Siobhan. After dedicating decades of her life to Weave and the communities Weave walks alongside, her legacy will be measured not only in programs, services, partnerships and organisational growth, but in relationships developed across generations, and the thousands of lives changed through her leadership, advocacy and unwavering commitment to children, young people, women, families and communities.

The Board and staff look forward to celebrating Siobhan’s extraordinary contribution over the coming months and recognising the lasting legacy she leaves for future generations.

Save the date! Weave's 2026 Mad Pride will be held on the 15th of October, at Carriageworks in Redfern Gadigal Land. This years theme will be 'A little connection goes a long way'.

Weave’s young people have been hosting annual Mad Pride events for 19 years - Here's a snippet from 2017 where attendees share what Mad Pride means to them. The theme for that year was 'Share the journey'. ❤️

Mad Pride is an annual youth-led event held by Weave Youth & Community Services in October during mental health month, celebrating the strengths and talents of the local community – challenging stigma around mental health and breaking down barriers to accessing mental health support. Mad Pride gives young people the opportunity to showcase their talents and creativity, tell their own stories, and speak candidly about their experience with mental health. Following a community consultation session with staff, clients, and community members, a youth-led planning committee takes the reins to design and execute the event.
