Since travel has been put on a halt, we’ll continue to reminisce on the best two weeks of our summer.

Puerto Rico is a place you don’t want to miss on your travel bucket list. We highly recommend booking a flight once covid restrictions are lifted to get a full feel of La Isla Del Encanto 🇵🇷

Chasing waterfalls is our forte 🌊

When visiting Puerto Rico, it’s so rewarding and eye-opening to venture outside of the capital city of San Juan. While we love San Juan and Old San Juan, they are tourist cities and only offer a small taste of the culture of Puerto Rico.

We’d like to highlight the beautiful city of Ciales. Ciales is a city nested in the mountains with breathtaking views. This waterfall specifically is right off the side of the main road and if you’re not paying attention, you will miss it. There are no signs or official walkways. Once here enjoy the serenity of the shockingly refreshing water and scenery.

You are my rock!

How many of you guys like a good beach? 🌊 Survival Beach in Aguadilla was a hassle to find and a hike to reach, but incredibly worth it. We believe all great destinations have a story to tell about the journey & that the journey makes it that much better.

This beach is one of a kid, lined with huge rock formations inside and outside of the water, including many crabs along the way. While here, we witnessed a crab fight, saw hundreds of snails attached to the rocks and a lot of sea urchins (cuidado!) 🦀

Puente de Piedra was as magical as it looks in the pictures.

It was also a little frightening. We know you all see that little tiny bridge walk to get to the end point. Puerto Rico has so many beautiful gems and this is one of them.

Located in Cabo Rojo. We parked and headed uphill to El Farro, the light house. After admiring that area, if you head to your right and follow the walking trail, about 5 minutes or so, you’ll encounter Puente de Piedra. Que bonita bandera 🇵🇷

This building is completely covered with the beautiful Puerto Rican flag... a site to see! In Puerto Rico, the flag is pretty much everywhere.... and we mean EVERYWHERE. It’s on car hoods, sides of buildings/ homes & even worn as garments. One thing about Puerto Ricans is how prideful they are and how could they not be? The island is filled with so many natural wonders, delicious cuisines and amazing music. 💃🏽

This building is located in a city about an hour and a half from San Juan, called Utuado. Utuado is known for its Taíno culture: Puerto Rico’s native ethnic group. A lot of history and rivers lay in this beautiful town nested in the mountains. When coming to this town, don’t forget to check our Rio Caonillas.

Because I’ve had the time of my life, no I’ve never felt this way before.

Re-enacting the Dirty Dancing scene was a lot harder than expected lol We had too much fun on Flamenco Beach. This was definitely the clearest water we played in on our trip to Puerto Rico.

Once you arrive in Culebra, the easiest way to get to Flamenco beach is by getting a taxi. They charge per person (~$5) and require cash. To get into Flamenco Beach, they also charge pp ($2). Due to COVID, temperatures were taken, hand sanitizer was given, and masks had to be worn on the beach unless you were in your social distancing area or in the water.

Flamenco Beach has a handful of food kiosks to fill any hunger void & an abundance of coconuts to keep you hydrated. And, let’s not forget about the infamous tank left behind by the US military; the perfect backdrop for our photo 😆

Anything for Salinas.

Las Salinas de Cabo Rojo are the beautiful pink salt flats in Puerto Rico’s Southwest region. They are easy to access and are free. The best way to experience the island to its fullest is by renting a vehicle. This allowed us to explore all the natural wonders PR has to offer.

When arriving to the salt flats, we recommend finding a parking spot on the street. In Puerto Rico, it’s all about “getting in where you fit in”. We quickly parked early in the morning and enjoyed the salt flats all to ourselves. It is definitely a sight to see and one not to be missed, especially if you love pink 😊

Whenever we are together, I know that everything will be alright.

Many things have changed in Puerto Rico since our arrival two weeks ago due to Covid. A lot have been asking about our travel itinerary but that had to change several times to adjust to closures and other detours. We will share a part of our itinerary and how to plan for unforeseen circumstances.

With everything that has happened, we didn’t allow it to take away from our trip. We would like to inform the travel community that the island is currently not open for tourism at this moment, but please consider Puerto Rico as a future travel destination.

Travel the world with me, into the depths of the jungle 🌎

We love El Yunque! We spent half a day hiking and exploring the only tropical rainforest in the United States. All the sounds of nature, including the coqui, made us feel relaxed and revitalized. Because we were in a rainforest, the hike wasn’t too bad - in terms of sun and heat (our glutes, quads & hamstrings were on fire!). The air was consistently cool and misty 😌
