Last Friday we had the pleasure of hosting @indynanunanu and her family for a special Birthday Celebration for her lovely mum!

It was a last minute arrangement but we were able to carve out some time for them to get together and make more than just memories 🧡

(Yeh is a corny line but it’s truuuuuue!)

So if you’re ever looking for something you can do with family or friends to mark an occasion, drop us an email! We have loads of ideas for group sessions - you need only ask 😌

Reduction Firing Results 🔥

James tested out our first Reduction firing at WEDGE on Sunday.

Reduction or Gas Kiln firing, is a firing process that limits the amount of oxygen available inside the kiln, affecting the chemical reactions that take place within glazes and clay bodies as they mature in the heat.

Firing in reduction creates a distinct range of effects and colours that can only be achieved through this process — and it’s what makes Reduction firing so exciting and often unpredictable 🤓

Reduction firings are just one of our very special Member benefits here at WEDGE and you won’t find anywhere else in Derby City Centre that does them.

If you’re interested in learning more about what we offer, just head to our website by following the link in our bio 🔗

Another cracking Saturday was had by all. Such a great group and throwing some brilliant shapes so early on!

We love to see people getting lost in the making, putting their phones down, taking some time for themselves and just enjoying the act of making.

You know where we are so y’all come back now ya hear! 🔥🥰

Let’s be honest, we all have a favourite mug but let’s be serious - the best mugs are handmade.

They just FEEEEEEEL better. You can feel the human in them, the nature of something that is handmade will always hold more magic than something mass produced.

Yeah ok, you can get “perfection” with mass produced… but is it perfection? Or is it just something that has been created with such a lack of character, passion or feeling, that all that’s left is the thing?

… literally an empty vessel, completely void of any skill, creativity, softness or even, imperfections, that make something different and therefore special.

A mug can be strangely human in a way, but that’s what makes them so much fun to make.

Have you got a favourite mug? Let us know in the comments below! 👇🏻

WERE SORRY

We know it’s only just turned October but you know what they say, the early bird catches the worm!

Now we’re not saying you need to run off and put your tree up… but maybe you send this reel to your mates and plan a little crimbo class for yourselves 🎄 👀

Gingerbread House classes will be running on Friday evenings so grab your pals, book a slot and we’ll get the hot chocolate ready 😉
