The Bristol Beaufort Wreck - Morotai This was one of the most challenging underwater photographs I have ever created. At around 50 metres deep, with only one tank of air and very limited bottom time, every second counted. Camera settings, composition, lighting and angles—all decisions had to be made quickly, while safety remained the number-one priority. Resting on the seabed is an aircraft locally known as the Bristol Beaufort Wreck. Around it, remnants of the Second World War are scattered across the underwater landscape: military trucks, jeeps, vehicle parts, ammunition and other relics slowly being reclaimed by coral and marine life. Morotai became a major Allied base in 1944, supporting operations toward the Philippines and Borneo. More than eight decades later, its waters still preserve the traces of that history. I surfaced happy and grateful—not only because I captured the photograph I had envisioned, but because I was able to record this remarkable historical landscape beneath the sea. a silent storyteller from the past. On this 80th Independence Day of Indonesia, we dive not only into the ocean but into history itself. The underwater flag ceremony reminds us that freedom is limitless ,it flows across the sky, the land, and even the deep sea. 🇮🇩🇮🇩 by @wedwedwed
