Hi, I'm Jodie and we’re the family behind @weekendfamilyfun! 🍎
We love sharing our favourite days out (both the "treat yourself" kind and the totally free ones) across Kent, the South East, and beyond.

From family-friendly spots to eat out, weekend escapes, and family travels to our latest kitchen creations, we’re here to show you how we make the most of our family time.

In the spirit of being 100% transparent: when we are lucky enough to be invited on a gifted/PR trip, we will always give you the honest truth. If it’s not worth your hard-earned money, we’ll say so.

Now you know we love an afternoon tea, but was it worth the journey to try out Louis’s fresh home-baked goodies? The answer is YES! ☕️🍰✨

Here’s what we tucked into:
🥪 Selection of vegetarian finger sandwiches – absolutely delish (the tomato and avocado was my personal favourite! 🥑🍅)
🧁 The staple of any afternoon tea - Scones with clotted cream and Jam
🍫 White chocolate rocky road – a huge hit and the kids’ absolute fave!
🍰 Biscoff cake & chocolate orange cake – sooo good!

Such a cute wholesome spot with incredible homemade treats... do I want to return already? YES! 🙌

Looking for your next mid-week food fix? We checked out Loaf in Clerkenwell for a Tasty Tuesday treat, and it did not disappoint! 🤤✨

Here’s everything we devoured:
🍞 Flavour-packed toasted brioche sandwiches (my personal recommendation is the halloumi pesto sandwich—so good! 🧀💚)
🍟 Perfectly crispy fries
🍨 Next-level loaded Biscoff French toast fingers with ice cream

Why on earth has it taken me over 30 years to discover the wonder that is gnocchi?! 🤔💭

If you haven’t visited yet, The Gnocchi Bar in Camden is an absolute must. It’s such a fantastic spot for families to grab a quick, delicious meal—piping hot, packed with flavour, and served up in minutes! 🧆✨

We sampled both the boiled and fried versions, and while I loved both, the family consensus was unanimous: the fried gnocchi is THE winner! 🏆

We opted for the vegetarian pesto and mozzarella, and let me tell you—it tasted every bit as ooey, gooey, and gorgeous as it looked! 🧀💚

Looking for a FREE family excursion in London? 🌿🏙️ Then this one is definitely for you!

The Sky Garden, located at 20 Fenchurch Street (the famous “Walkie Talkie” building), offers incredible panoramic views right across the city.

It was our first time visiting, and we’ll 100% be back! A few things to know before you go:

⏰ The Queue: We booked a 6:15 PM slot, but since it’s super popular, we didn’t get in the lift until 6:50 PM — prepare to queue!
🎟️ Booking: No walk-ins allowed! Tickets are completely FREE, but you must book them online in advance.
⏱️ Time Limit: You get 60 minutes to explore, take in the sights, and grab a drink from the bar.
📸 TOP TIP: If you want to step out onto the open-air observation deck, make sure to book a slot BEFORE 6:00 PM, as the deck closes after 6!

Fancy a family day out that tests your mind, body, and strength? 🧠💪

Then you NEED to check out Prison Island!

The concept is simple: 31 themed rooms to complete and break out of. But don’t be fooled—some are MUCH harder than they appear, and others come with 3 different levels to crack if you’ve got the stamina!

We played for 90 minutes and still had 13 rooms left to explore... mostly because we were so determined to beat specific ones! (Looking at you, Shark Bait 🦈—got there in the end!).

It’s such a fun challenge for kids and adults alike!

Sunday Family Fun day - Afternoon tea bus tour London

What is more quintessentially British than an afternoon tea onboard a pink double-decker bus to explore the iconic sights of London? 🫖🚌✨ We did just that with @goldentoursuk and it was fantastic!

90 minutes truly didn’t seem long enough! We had an upper-deck private table with fantastic views of the city as we sang along to a great playlist and spotted iconic landmarks like Big Ben, Trafalgar Square, and St Paul’s Cathedral. 🇬🇧📍

The vegetarian afternoon tea was incredible — featuring a cheese and onion roll, mozzarella pesto focaccia roll, cheese & cucumber sandwich, and a falafel wrap. Sweets and treats included freshly baked scones with clotted cream and jam, a mini cupcake, macaron, brownie, and tart! 🧁🍓 All were delicious — we didn’t even need a takeaway box at the end, let’s put it that way! 😉

This was our first family afternoon tea bus, but it certainly won’t be our last. The kids can’t wait to ride again! 🎟️
