🏆 Announcing this year’s candidates of the Jonkers Sailplane Challenge!

For this challenge juniors have to be fast in the air and get high scores in WeGlide’s junior sprint rankings.

This year the jury elected Jasper Jansen 🇳🇱 and Alessandro Tedeschi 🇺🇸 who both where in the top 5 of their respective ranking.

🇪🇺 Jasper performed in the junior sprint ranking Europe: https://www.weglide.org/ranking/sprint?season=2026&category=pilot&user=junior&continent=Europe,EU

🇺🇸 Alessandro did in the sprint Ranking “Rest of the World”: https://www.weglide.org/ranking/sprint?season=2026&category=pilot&user=junior&continent=South%2520America,SA&continent=Oceania,OC&continent=North%2520America,NA&continent=Asia,AS&country=South%2520Africa,ZA

Congratulations to both pilots on an incredible season!

Here's what they think about the adventure ahead:

💬 Alessandro Tedeschi:
"I am beyond excited to participate in the South African Nationals this October. Most of my gliding has been in the Western US and I can't wait to experience soaring and racing in a new continent. I'm also looking forward to learning about the South African gliding community and culture, as well as visiting the JS factory."

💬 Jasper Jansen:
"A fun and competitive competition in weather conditions Europe rarely sees, surrounded by a great and friendly atmosphere!"

✈️ 6 years of WeCoach, now it needs your help!

Since 2021, WeCoach has trained Germany's top young glider pilots at world class mountain flying spots in France 🇫🇷 and South Africa 🇿🇦. 20 juniors coached so far, and many have gone on to become top notch mountain pilots since. Now WeCoach wants to open up internationally, so junior pilots from anywhere in the world can get this chance.

The program's main funding is running out. About €18,100/year is needed to keep this life changing experience going. Every donation helps, big or small! 🙏
