I’ve been wanting to work with @willaris.k ever since I heard his music just before Melbourne was hit by COVID lockdown a few years back. So I’m supppeeerr stoked now to be able to share the video for @willaris.k’s latest single ‘GUARD’, shot with a tight crew of truly beautiful people all in one day, in various locations across Mexico City. This was my first collaboration with @jacolvi directing at the helm, and my first project with the producers of @tremendas.house, @la_rosaly and @verocitrica. It’s been a hot minute since I‘ve had the chance to work with one of my fav artists and collaborators, @angelinearmstrongxx and @telenovaofficial, so I feel like an extra lucky boy this time round to co-direct, DOP and work in art department on this project. We managed to almost entirely use built sets and in-camera effects for the set-ups on this project, with very little VFX. Such a pleasure to deep-dive creatively with @angelinearmstrongxx and the production design team on this 🫶🏻 Thankyou @sophbooth from @porkstoreproductions for hearing out all my ambitious and sometimes completely unrealistic ideas, I still can’t believe we managed to pull off the setups we did in a single day 😮‍💨 Link to watch in my bio! My instagram stories for a long time have been not just a way to share my life but more so both a means of creative expression and a way to keep a visual diary for myself in my highlights - to remember details and feelings of past moments, many of which will eventually fade to time and experience. Many stories I don’t highlight and only exist for 24 hrs before being lost to the Instagram story-cycle ether. So when Claudia reached out earlier this year to use some of these stories for a final hurrah music video for @holyholymusic before they went on an indefinite hiatus, I couldn’t say no. ‘So Be It’ turned into a cathartic project for me as the footage was collated from the past 6 or so years of my life from various iPhones in various weird little corners of the world I’ve been fortunate enough to explore. It features both total strangers and a many people in my life that I care for deeply. I know I’m biased because I’m inherently connected to this video emotionally, but watching it makes me want to hug my family and tell all my friends I love them. It stirs feelings of both happy nostalgia at moments past, and melancholic awareness of the inevitable passing of time, how we spend it, and who we spend it with. Hopefully it can make you feel something too 🫶🏻 by @wehaveavisual

Shot, cut and graded a lil live recording session for @gordimusic for The Grammys @recordingacademy in Mexico City earlier this year with @jacolvi. In a stroke of very poor timing, I turned up on set and was almost immediately hit with food poisoning for the entire rest of the shoot, but we managed to push through 😤 Thanks @gordimusic and @casadecopasmx for having us! We shot a lil somethin in Mexico City for @willaris.k’s single Appulencia which dropped today. Thankyou to the small and dedicated crew of full-send chingones who made it possible 🫶🏻 It was a bit red hot at times and we blew our entire allocated bribe budget in the first four hours of shooting on day 1, but now we have cute little memories together hiding from the Mexican police in a 7-11 on the same day.
