May is Mental Health Awareness Month!

Since around 10 years old, I have been struggling with my mental health. At age 19, I finally sought out professional help and was diagnosed with depression and anxiety. For the longest time I suffered in silence due to the fear of no one taking me seriously. Now, I have so many amazing people who help support me every day.

In 8th grade, I promised myself that I would be dedicated to supporting others who feel the same way I have felt. Every day I am alive, I get closer to that goal.

Struggling with mental health is still so stigmatized and speaking up is a good way to beat the stigma. Instead of suffering in silence, suffer loudly and with the support of others around you. Being open about mental health saves lives.

Reach out and check on the people around you. If you are struggling, reach out for help and support. I promise the people around you want to hear how you’re doing instead of losing you. You deserve to live and get help.
