Shot this a few weeks ago with @asgxoxo. Love it when people give me creative freedom to put something cool together!

I made this wig a few months ago using wooden reed and quilt batting, happy to give this pink diva her day in the sun.

This was one of the most special shoots I've ever done. I had the privilege to take some shots of seniors at my hometown Senior Center in Powell County (rural Kentucky). I brought some costumes, and asked attendees to bring some photos of themselves as younger women. I wanted to take a "dignified" shot, a shot remembering who they used to be, and a fun shot capturing who they are now. Here are a few of my favorites.

What a blast of a day. I love spending time with older people. My grandma struggles with memory issues these days, but she loved the attention and sparkles. Please consider dropping in to say hello to older folks in your community at places like a senior center or community gathering space. They tell the best stories (like how one shot a squirrel out of a tree for dinner and wore pants 20 years before anyone else, lol).

More coming in this series - plan on expanding it in other rural Kentucky senior centers.

'The Madness of King Richard.'

Had such an great time hanging with the wildly talented artist Richard Sullivan. We were inspired by combining two tarot cards - the King and the Fool.

In addition to painting gorgeous and super weird watercolors and paintings out of his Portland (Lou) studio and offering watercolor instruction classes, he also offers creative group Doodle Bop sessions that teach people to collaborate and be creative together as a way to connect. No agenda or creative plan, just creating together. Check them out!

HANDMADE BY WEIRDHAUS.

Now that I've recovered from Derby shenanigans, wanted to do a close up of the outfit i wore for Oaks parties Friday night.

Started with a pointed cup corset and added a flounce skirt to match the ruffled bloomers. Then moved to a detachable tournure skirt that I self drafted based on a Selkie skirt I love but couldn't afford lol. 15 yards and 175 feet of hand pulled ruffles later, I added some buttons to make it adjustable/dance floor ready.

The cuffs and necktie were a last second adjustment, to give a little oomph. And the barrettes were all Derby horses silks.

The capelet was an upcycle - the only thing aside from the wig and shoes I didnt make. It came plain and I added the ruffle and rhinestones.

Big fun project! Will probably place the outfit for rent eventually after I make some adjustments. taken in Louisville, Kentucky by @weirdhausart

SO!
I had the amazing opportunity to do a photo shoot with the incredible @weirdhauslouisville to promote @laughingstockshows. As someone who has never done this kind of thing, I had an absolute blast! The make up, the set, the costume pieces. All incredible! Clown model is not something I thought I would ever say about myself, but here we are and look how much fun we’re having. Here’s a few of the photos. Go to @weirdhauslouisville if you ever need costumes/photos. The best!

If you don’t know, @laughingstockshows is an all ages carnival themed show series I put together here in Louisville (go see @laughingstock317 for shows in Indianapolis). I specialize in rock and roll/punk/garage/power pop etc. The aim is to create a stronger music community and to bring together great bands. Older legacy bands play with newer up and coming bands. Locals play with active touring bands who wouldn’t normally have a foothold here and create a big network of friends so everyone can have those connections. All inclusive. No meanies or jaded jerks. It’s been my favorite thing to bring all my friends to town and put on killer shows.

Why clowns? I encourage people to wear clown costumes and dress up as a fun way to participate. It usually weeds out any elitist types and promotes a positive and unique show. Brings out a certain wild energy ya know? Also clowns are neat.

Witnessing queer joy feels like seeing a rainbow on a dark night.

Dusty (@dustyray ) has done such an incredible job curating an event that welcomes all with joy, where performers hype each other up and the crowd gets to witness all this love and happiness up close at the exact moment it is desperately needed.
