Mortal Coil: Kensington Crankie Festival
SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 26th

6:30 doors, 7pm showtime
Free admission (donations much appreciated)

An amazing night of Crankie performances and music starts at 7pm! Free to attend! Just show up! No reservations needed! All ages!

Matchbox Crankie Workshop at 4pm (the workshop portion of the day is currently full, but you’re welcome to show up to see if any spots open up)

Artist Mini-Market at 6:30 inside!

We are all wound up to invite you to Philly’s first-ever Crankie Festival, an evening of storytelling in scrolling panoramic art with live music and song!

What is a crankie? A crankie is a storytelling device where an illustrated scroll is wound around two dowels held in place by a window box frame. When the dowels are cranked forwards, the illustrations play through in sequence for all to follow along. Originating from Europe in the late 1700s, crankies are now enjoying a global revival among anyone with a story to tell, meeting popularity for its low-tech whimsicality and accessibility.

Performer spotlightttt! It's @roseluardo ! Come see her work her magic on Saturday, October 17!

Rose is a surrealist comedic performer. A woman for whom pleasure is found in creating vibrant art installations and thrilling/unpredictable performances. Come hither and feast your eyeballs.

If you haven't seen Rose perform before, you better get yourself anointed -- she's an absolute treat! And her Fringe show, Rituals, is technically sold out, but if you head over to Vox Populi tonight, they might be able to make some miracles happen.

HALLOWEEN!!!! AUTUMN!!! FALL!!! CREEPY!!! WEIRD!!!
I’m looking for a last minute video to use for our October 1st short release! We release two videos a month created by various amazingly talented humans. They run as ads and live on our social media and on the Ftv page (on Fireballprinting.com). There’s a few other posts you can check out for details, but basically we give you $300 to use your video.
I have some cool stuff I could use, don’t get me wrong! I just didn’t think about getting as much Halloween in as possible somehow and now I’m wishing I did. We did commission a Halloween specific video for our October 15th release, but not for the October 1st. So this is soon. It should probably be something you already have that we could throw a Fireball bumper on. GET IN TOUCH!!!

Hey Screwheads! We are very excited to announce our next event, Stop Motion Commotion! an animation workshop hosted by your friends at Screwball. Get a chance to play around with different craft materials and learn to make your own stop motion animations with Dragonframe from local animators @nateanimates_ and @vedathedarth. Come hang out with other cool creatives and make some fun animations! Also during the workshop we are going to screen some awesome stop motion shorts from Nate and Veda as well as some of our favs from the archives. This workshop is friendly to people familiar with stop motion or if you’ve never tried it before! Also the event is BYOT (bring your own trinket) so if you have an object or toy you think would be a good subject for an animation feel free to bring it! But we’ll also have materials at the event. This is about the WEIRDO festival (our glorious celebration of everything art and weird) which will be happening this year on Saturday, October 17th. To clarify, this is not just some random weirdo meetup. It is for people who want to help make the fest happen in some way or another including but not limited to doing something at it. You could have some sort of actual weirdo meet up at the actual WEIRDO if you so desire, but that would depend on if we can find you a space to do it in so you should come to this meeting so we can talk about it. Got it?! Cool.
