— my journal entry from that day reads:

I love you and miss you like crazy mom. I feel like there’s so many things I want to tell you and so much you’ve already missed out on. Yet, while the successes here are wonderful, they don’t compare to the wonders you are experiencing with Jesus. I just wish I could have another rainy conversation on the back porch with you again. I love you more than you’ll ever know and I feel so privileged for the time that I did get to spend with you. I’m trying to live my life out not only in the honor of the Lord, but also of you. The Lord has brought me comfort and strength. You bring me ambition and aspiration. How can I make an impact on people’s lives? How can I show them God? We are doing alright these days but I miss you and it’s hard for life to move on without you in it. It feels like life would be perfect if you were still here. Funny how that works. Finding so many blessings in the valleys. I love you always and I’ll stay golden.

Reflecting on this as today marks one year of true Life!! This was the first page written in my journal and looking back on it I’m in awe. It’s been a year of refinement and resilience. This picture reminds me everyday the goodness of the Lord! Understanding the depths of suffering and grief has been the most revealing of God’s character. It really is funny in a way to walk through the pain and strife that life brings while living out your most joyous moments. But that’s what God does. Taking today as a blessing and another reason to choose joy!! by @wellesleyymiller
