You know you’re a lifer when I have to make an immediate B2B post about ya (sry pal I know the tears nearly just dried but.. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯) While Carly Anne may not have let me photograph her wedding bc I had to be in it, she still accepted me sneakily showing up with my tiny professional bb to capture the behind the scenes of the weekend anyways bc she knows that’s how I feel present & connect with people. Capturing the tiny moments between and trying to catch the details of people and guests to make them feel seen that might be overlooked if you’re going too quickly. Being around this incredible human means knowing how important the little, simple things really are. And how to love them unconditionally. The only way I knew how to repay Carly for my lifetime-to-date joy, bond, and memories was to print a highlight reel of the photos as polaroid prints that I’d taken over the wedding weekend and put them into a scrapbook, secretly signed by any and all loved ones & friends we could grab in the lobby or hiding in plain sight at the lake, only to successfully surprise her with it at the day-after cookout at her family’s cottage. 🥹There’s something so fleeting about a wedding weekend that’s hard to bottle up, and this was the next best. A gift given at the place she always pictured getting married surrounded by so much love, then immediately followed by her new sweet angel husband surprising her with a birthday celebration. Overwhelmed with love and attention, she still found a way to take a moment of solitude to soak in the moment and cherish the memories just made. I walked past the screened-in-porch and heard a full on belly laugh, I took a quick picture to see who she was talking to and it was just her and the book reading through some of the love notes and stories captured in the book ✨ This is the LONGEST ode (and speech I never would’ve made it through) to my first forever friend because it was too special, and she’s too special not to be shared and cherished. Let me tell you something about my first friend (actually ever) 🥹 She taught me that instead of introducing her as my “neighbor” growing up, she preferred “best friend” which feels simple but was truly a sign of so much more. That we were more than our origins, and grew into something so much more special. While our childhood homes were connected by a shared (massive) yard from 6 months old until we graduated college, going to the same schools and physical geographical locations was actually the least common denominator in what connected us. Her heart of gold, wholesome demeanor, generosity, kind-hearted nature, and humor truly always inspired me to be better. *On the record apology for putting you second in this carousel and for all the times I threatened to not invite you to my future birthday party if we didn’t play the game I wanted or watch the movie I wanted (you’re welcome for a fantastic early exposure to so many genres and the endless Lord of the Rings & Hobbit re-watches now turned comfort movies)* This is the biggest thank you and honor to have been a part of your day, and weekend, to celebrate the woman you are now and honoring the girl I grew up with. Your soul is the brightest light Wrens Gate ever saw and I’m grateful to have that guiding us all home when we get a 3 hour catch-up face time to feel safe and seen again. This is also a thank you to Nick, I couldn’t have imagined a better partner for our gal. You challenge each other in the best of ways and have found and created the safest support and spaces between eachother. You are a true demonstration of a partnership and I can’t wait to find my own someday 🫶🏼 Thank you for bringing out the best in us all with your love. Bestied too hard and took the bit tooo far this time if I’m being honest 🤪🏃🏼‍♀️ What started as FOMO from cheering on my pals during their (hella) races, somehow turned into me training and completing my first half marathon. 13.1 mf miles, in 87 the grease, nonetheless!! I may have felt like the slowest one out there, and MAY have gone nonverbal for the last half of the half, but knowing I had… 💕all three babies scattered around the course cheering their auntie on (and mom and queen SILs) 🥹4 of the BEST friends/coaches/cheerleaders literally guide-dog vibin & hyping me up every single step of the way at their party pace aka my effort pace lol 🫶🏻and the sweetest friend surprising me at mile 11 for my breakdown cry (when I just wanted to be faster for everyone finishing it with me tbfh) ..made it beyond worth it. I’m s’proud of my slow and steady groove, knowing I can push my body to its limits, and prepare even better for myself for the next one.
