This November, we’re reading 1984 by George Orwell… a chilling vision of a world where truth is manipulated, privacy is almost nonexistent and even your own thoughts can become an act of rebellion

Written in 1949 Orwell’s dystopian classic feels as unsettling (and relevant ?) as ever. It asks us to question who controls the truth, how language shapes what we believe and what happens when fear becomes a tool of power.

How much freedom do we really have when someone else controls the info we see?

after a year away, the well read society has found a new home.

What began in Australia as a small community for readers who craved deeper conversation now continues here in Dublin.

If you’ve ever felt changed by a book or wished there were more spaces for thoughtful connection… this is for you.

If you could travel back in time, who would you choose to see?

This month, we’re reading Before the Coffee Gets Cold by Toshikazu Kawaguchi… a quiet, heartwarming novel about love, loss, regret and the conversations we wish we’d had. Through a small café where time travel is possible under one condition (your coffee must be finished before it gets cold) this book reminds us that while we can’t change the past, we can change ourselves.

Book: The Midnight Library by Matt Haig
Date & Time: Friday, 12 December — 5:30pm
Location: TBD (Kangaroo Point/Valley)

Between life and death, there’s a library and every book on its shelves offers a different version of who you could have been.
The Midnight Library invites us to sit with regret, possibility and the courage it takes to choose the life we have, themes that feel especially powerful as the year comes to a close.

You don’t need to have finished the book to join us.
Just bring:
A favourite line or moment
An open mind
A willingness to explore the “what ifs” we carry
