The power of human connection…

@wellrunbrum is a movement which brings all abilities together to get men’s mental wellness on track through free-to-access fortnightly 5KM social runs in Birmingham.

Each run begins with a guest speaker - a pace maker for the conversation - providing inspiration and motivation before setting off on a 5KM run around the city.

Dr Gareth Patterson, known as @theirishgp, shares informative videos on Instagram and TikTok covering common medical complaints and stress management techniques.

The Belfast born doctor qualified at Queen’s University Belfast in July 2012 with a Distinction and has a specialist interest in Mental Health and Wellbeing, Paediatric Medicine, Emergency Medicine, and LGBTQIA+ Health. Experienced in Care of the Elderly, Rehabilitation Medicine and Cardiology, he has also spent a number of years involved in medical education with students and junior doctors.

As a GP working in London he is passionate about patient care, health promotion, disease prevention, and wellbeing.

@movewith.matt is a Birmingham-based PE Teacher and Endurance Athlete who has raised over £17,000 for @birminghammind in memory of his father.

The Birmingham Mind Helpline provides advice, information and signposting to people with mental health issues, carers, professionals and the general public. Call 0121 262 3555 (daily, 9am to 11pm).

Well Run Brum’s conversational pacemaker this week was @drranj, one of the country’s most recognised and well-loved medics and TV presenters, with a career ranging from NHS doctor, to author, and now musical theatre star. He is currently in Birmingham playing the role of Lance in the UK tour of @julietmusical, which comes to @brumhippodrome until Saturday 3 May 2025.

Each run begins with a guest speaker - a pace maker for the conversation, providing inspiration and motivation before setting off around the city.

Well Run Brum’s conversational pacemaker for Run #62 is @thatcorporatelawyer. 

Henry Nelson-Case is a renowned commercial lawyer, speaker, and digital creator, known for his impactful advocacy on mental health and workplace wellbeing. A highly relatable and insightful speaker, one of Henry’s biggest achievement to date includes delivering a TEDx Talk on the damaging effects of toxic masculinity on men’s mental health, alongside amassing a social media community of over 250,000 followers.

This weekend, we took Brum out of the city for a 5KM around Soho Farmhouse. 

Multi-talented stage star, broadcaster and winner the 14th series of Strictly Come Dancing, Ore Oduba spoke openly and honestly about his 🌽 addiction and his recovery journey. 

Explicit content is more accessible than ever. Carrying this message of recovery is so vital to help change people’s lives.

Each run begins with a guest speaker - a pace maker for the conversation - providing inspiration and motivation before setting off on a 5KM run around the city.

This week’s conversational pacemakers were @choirofman’s @robgodfrey & @niallwoodson.

Direct from the West End, the Olivier Award-nominated, worldwide smash hit The Choir of Man runs at @thealexbham until Saturday 18 July 2026.

A wildly talented group of incredible instrumentalists, world-class wordsmiths, and sensational singers, this cast of nine (extra) ordinary guys serve it all… live!

Rob Godfrey plays ‘Beast’ in this feel-good night of foot-stomping entertainment. He spent several years performing as a singer-songwriter. His credits with The Choir of Man include Coventry ‘21, Norwegian Cruise Lines Escape ‘21, South Korea ‘22 (Daegu International Musical Festival), Norwegian Cruise Lines Encore ’23, Melbourne ’24 (Arts Centre Melbourne), West End (Arts Theatre, London) ’24-’25, and Shanghai ’25 (Shanghai Centre Theatre), US Tour ‘25-26, performing the role of Beast.

Niall Woodson, who has previously been involved in the West End production, is one of four Swings. His credits include Me And My Shadow (Crazy Coqs), Frankie’s Guys (UK Tour), Guest Entertainer for Blackburn International (Holland America Line), Lead Vocalist for Viking Cruises, Vocalist for Natalie Weiss (Leicester Square Theatre).
